All main sites were easily accessible yet it was very convenient for the train station. The hotel had many more facilities than expected & the owner & staff were very pleasant & helpful. There is a small lift for those who find stairs difficult. All in all, it was a perfect place to stay.

Yes, they offer a bed and a breakfast but it is not a B&B in the traditional American definition. The check in desk is located on the 3rd floor (Italians consider it the 2nd floor) of what looks like an office building in between a Chinese restaurant and an internet cafe so you can easily walk past it as there is only a small sign by the buzzer that says Maison de Charme. The elevator is small so we put all of our luggage in it with 1 person and the other one walked up. Our room was on the 5th floor (4th in Italy). It was a nice, comfortable, and clean room that got lots of sunlight. It had a big (for Italy hotel standards) bathroom with good pressure and hot water. We had a lot of city noise but growing up in NYC desensitizes you. It's a good base for exploring Florence and the outskirts because it is within walking distance of all the major sights (Accademia, Duomo, Uffizi, Ponte Vecchio) and right across from the Santa Maria Novella train station. In general, I recommend it because it was ultimately comfortable and convenient, but more specifically for people in good health as you will have to walk up steps at some point.

Stayed in Maison de Charme for 4 nights from 4/10 till 8/10 and everthing is above average, the owner of the b&b Florio and the other lady called Francesca had been extremely helpful during our stayed,no negative thing about this little place,we knew that the lift is tiny,as we walked up to our room most of the time,so it doesn't really bother us.........I would definitely stay at this place again.

  • Liked — location and the size of the room(compared to the one we stayed in Rome, this one is huge)

We used Florence a base to tour Tuscany and staying at this hotel fit nicely in the plan. It is right across the street from the train and bus station so was very convenient for quick day trips. Plus, since Florence isn't that large we were in walking distance of all the sights there as well. The room is on the 4th floor and the elevator is tiny. The hosts were very friendly and helpful as well. The only minuses were the breakfast - prepackaged and nothing special - and the noise from the street (buses stopped right outside - great from traveling but not for sleeping) so bring your ear plugs and request a quiet room.

My husband and I stayed at this lovely B&B for 4 nights in May. The location was fantastic, right by the train station. Florence by no means is a large city, so everything (Accademia, Duomo, etc) was a 10-20 minute walk from the hotel.

The room was quite spacious for Italian standards, and included an okay breakfast in the mornings. However, it definitely held us over through lunch. The views from our balcony were simply splendid. The bed was comfortable, and the bathroom as large. However the shower barely fit my 6'5" husband. Regardless the B&B is definitely a delightful find. The staff was very nice too!

With some trepidation (based upon reviews on Trip Advisor), we stayed at the Maison de Charme in Florence for three nights in May 2007. The hotel is a 5 minute walk from the train station (cross the street in front and turn right - towards McDonalds, then turn left at the first street and it's on the left hand side about half way up the block). The hotel is on the 4th floor although you actually check in on the 2nd. There is a very small elevator that will accomodate two people and small luggage. The proprietor, Mr. Florian, was very nice and helpful with information and directions. The room was clean and adequate. Breakfast was left in the room the night before on a tray. There was a coffee maker in the room for coffee or tea. In the hall outside of the rooms, there was also a large coffee and espresso maker that was available for guests. Breakfast consisted of pre-packaged rolls and toast, butter, jam, juice and yogurt. There was also a large bowl of fresh apples in the hall between the rooms. Although breakfast was not great, it was convenient not to have to worry about being at breakfast at a certain time. The location of the hotel was central and we walked almost everywhere. We took different routes so that we could see more of Florence. On the one occasion that we decided to take a bus to get to the Piazzale Michelangelo, it was conveniently located in front of the train station. Overall, I would recommend this hotel for those who are content with a clean room in a central location.
