The station is very close to the centre of Florence, within walking distance, which is helpful and the sightseeing bus goes from just outside.
It is always busy and you must work out which train number you want to be able to find it and the right platform. Trains generally leave on time so give yourself plenty of time to get through the crowds. There are several exits which is somewhat confusing until you get your bearings because there are no helpful signs telling you which one is which.

The station's art deco architecture is amazing, from the skylight roofing to the buffers. It's also centrally located which is the best option for visiting Florence given the parking issues. The connections to the rest of Italy are great too, with links to Pisa, Rome, Naples and Milan. Soldiers patrol the station concourse but pickpockets still go around the ticket machines so watch out there.

This station is not very big and very easy to locate. It's not far from central florence. The Italia rail lines are on the main platform and to the left of the station are the local lines that go to pisa etc. Very safe to walk around.

I don't know if I've ever reviewed a train station before but I've seen many in Europe. This one is modern, with a clear layout, several good little stores inside and comfortable seating if you're lucky to get a spot - it is also a very busy station! The station is centrally located in the city - right outside are buses, if you need to take one, as well as the HOHO buses that stop here, and you are within walking distance of the main tourist attractions.

I used this station three times. It’s not huge but has 16 platforms. Smoking is prohibited in the main concourse, but that doesn’t deter some people. Smoking is allowed on the platforms, but should be banned completely as in the UK.
