The Accademia was a 'port in a storm' for us, as we had to find accommodation in Florence in a hurry. (We were escaping a national rail strike.) It worked out well: reasonable price, brilliant location, comfortable room. The location is minutes away from most of the big attractions, including the Duomo, the Medici Chapel (less than 100 metres away) and Santa Maria Novella. It is also a short walk from the railway station. Our room was large, comfortable and quiet. The bathroom was also spacious, but we had to be careful high-stepping over the bath to have a shower. Breakfast was nothing special and the coffee was worse. We ate dinner nearby at an excellent restaurant recommended by the reception staff, who were friendly and helpful. Overall, we were pleased with the hotel and would stay there again.

The hotel is practically next door to the Medici Chapel and a very short walk to Santa Maria Novella train station. Almost every sight in Florence is within a 15 minute walk of the hotel. A lot of dining options are very close by as well. The only complaint was that the bed was a little too hard for my tastes. We added a couple of extra blankets and were good to go! The staff was excellent and were very friendly and helpful.

The Hotel Accademia is a perfect location exploring Florence. With the new policies in place that limit motor driven traffic in the city (Bravo Mr. Mayor), walking is the way, and the Hotel Accademia is perfect. It's short walk (< 10 minutes) from the train station. It's 15 minutes from the Duomo, 10 to the Accademia Museum, and 20 minuttes to the Uffizi and Ponte Vecchio. Rooms are comfortable, clean, and quiet. Breakfast was excellent. Front desk staff was excellent, particularly in giving directions, and in restaurant recommendations. An added bonus, the hotel also has access to Paolo, a licensed guide in the City. We took a three hour guided tour of the City that was wonderful. What he couldn't show us in person, he presented on his trusty I Pad. Next time, we're using Paolo for a tour of the Uffizi. He gave us excellent recommendations on a restaurants and shops as well.

The location was good, but there are so many hotels around that I think you can find a better hotel. The bkft wasn't anything special and the morning people weren't that friendly. People at the desk were good.

We stayed at the Hotel Accademia for three nights in mid August during our Italy holiday. The hotel location is very convenient of near by the train station and most of the sightseeing places.

The staff are very friendly and always with a great smile to welcome you whenever you meet them in the property. The staff provided very good information of how to reach the sightseeing areas and what is the best and must do at Florence. We experienced all of their recommendation and had a great holiday at Florence.

Room Tip: Request room not facting to street because it will be very noisy at night.

This hotel is in a very good location. We stayed in room 18 this time and I believe room 20 last year. We were part of a Rick Steves tour. Our rooms were spacious and comfortable. A/C worked. When you are visiting a city the location is of utmost importance. Your feet will thank you.

Room Tip: Room numbers 18 or 20 were good. Courtyard area is quiet.

We chose this place based off of trip advisor and quickly came to regret it. There was ONE thing that happened that changed how I will rate this.

Check in was smooth, we even didn't mind lugging our luggage up three flights of stairs (two girls, 200+ lbs of luggage - don't judge) Everyone was friendly. Room was good enough for the price. I will comment and say the windows are incredible - you can't hear anything no matter how loud it is outside when they are closed. As many people mention, the location is excellent, very close to the train station and walking distance to the Duomo and the Accademia museum where the statue of David is, Piazza Vecchio, it's all right there.

We traveled, two late 20-something girls, throughout Italy. We decided on a Monday night to go to a discoteca, leaving the hotel around 1130. You have to turn your keys in before you leave (they're real keys, not electronic). No one was at the desk so I rang the bell and the overnight man came out in his pajamas and was incredibly rude about us leaving at all, as if hoping we would change our minds. We proceeded to leave anyway. He told us we could get our own keys from the desk upon returning, which was fine (even though your job is to get me my keys, but ok).

We returned probably close to 4am. My friend had gone back earlier than me so another friend walked me home and into our room. We barely got in the room and said hello (mind you we aren't kids, we were quiet and respectful in returning to the room and conversing). About three minutes after we walked into the room and the friend who walked me back was about to leave the man called from earlier, who was not at the desk upon my return.

He began screaming that we only paid for two people to sleep in the room and he was going to call the police because people were complaining. The reception desk was right outside our room so I walked out to speak with him directly and he continued. It escalated to a yelling match because a friend walked me home in a foreign country at 4am. I welcomed him to call the police as we paid for our room and did nothing wrong and he continued yelling.

I paid for a place to sleep and safely store my things - not to be monitored by an old grumpy man who is mad because I'm on Holiday. This ONE person ruined anything positive I would say about this property. Florence is one of only a few cities in Italy that has good nightlife so forgive us for enjoying our time out.

The way we were treated was not only over zealous - but asinine and ridiculous. I recommend you take your hard earned money elsewhere.
