My husband and I have been visiting Florence every 2 years (with one extra year added in between... nice!). This bakery has been a DAILY PILGRIMMAGE and I feel remiss in not reviewing it sooner! They have the most delicious pastries and their prices are for the locals. They are the same people for the past few years and I feel like I'm "coming home" when I return each trip. They are the most friendly and down to earth people, but most importantly to travelers--THEIR PASTRIES AND CONFECTIONARIES ARE ALWAYS FRESH AND FAR SURPASS the "glam" bakeries that seem so tempting!! (We've sampled them all over the years).
BUT--WE ALWAYS COME BACK (Mondays thru Saturdays!!) for our FAVORITE "Due Ungherese" and on Saturdays... "Due per Qui and due per domain!!!" ENJOY!!! I hope you have a chance to visit!!!

I've visited this neighborhood bakery at least a couple dozen times over the last 22 years and, until my last visit, would have ranked it five stars. It serves up some delicious pizza, focaccia, sandwiches, etc from their very busy ovens. Walk up to the counter (take a number) and specify the pizza you want, then indicate the size. It's still worth a visit, guess all I can say is that it used to be much better. A Florentine friend confirmed this decline...she started going when she was a kid and says it ain't what it used to be. In spite of this, you can't beat the location, about halfway between the Duomo and the Palazzo Vecchio—a great place for a quick, lunch or snack. Grab it and eat in one of those spectacular public spaces. Try the pizza with potato for a different take on pizza...no cheese or tomato.
