“Fast & cheap eating - but definitely not "fast food" in the bad sense”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 12, 2013

We had a tasty, filling meal of basic Florence food with a pleasant, light house Chianti.
I love the individual glass doors to each table that leave the central aisle free for the staff to do their work.
At peak times, expect to wait a few minutes to get a table. If you are two or less, you are likely to find yourselves sharing a table. If you are more than four, you will have to split up.
Great value!

“A Florentine Must”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 25, 2013

You don't have to have lunch in de Rocca, the busy, cheerful diner-like restaurant inside Florence's Sant' Ambrogio Market. It's not on anyone's tourist must-experience dining list. The dishes are simple and straight-coward, but they are full of flavor, served in a convivial atmosphere of communal booths, each opening from the market beyond by its own glass doors, giving the place a sense of being right in the action yet cozy and enclosed. And if there ever was a good deal for a traveler, this is it. Each primi piatta -- from lasagna to pasta dishes to a hearty pasta fagioli soup, is a reasonable 4 euros; the secondi piatti, from Florence's signature Trippa Alla Fiorentina to pollo aArosto or polpette friti, is a bargain 5 euros. And don't skip the desserts, for example panna cotta for 2.50 euros. This is not a tourist spot -- Sant' Ambrogio is fairly off-the-beaten track for leather-seeking travelers -- but it will make you smile at both the money you saved and the lovely, fun meal you enjoyed with Florentines going about their lives.

“Lovely and authentic”

I liked this place a lot, one of the best meal I had at Florence and for sure a cheapest one. Right inside the market, after finish shopping for cheese and spices you can get fresh, fast, delicious, absolutely Tuscany food.

“Tiny restaurant in Sant' Ambrogio market”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 30, 2013

This restaurant is located in a glass enclosure inside the Sant' Ambrogio market. You open the doors and slide in to the communal tables. It is only open for lunch. Service is very friendly. One time I was there by myself and the owner would not let any men sit next to me - very fatherly and protective.

The food is fresh and delicious. You MUST save room for the poached pear for dessert - the best I have ever had! The prices are very reasonable.
