Description: Tamero is the coolest restaurant in Florence in the heart of Oltrarno: piazza Santo Spirito. The restaurant is well known for the express hand made pasta. After the 11.00 p.m. Tamero is a club where you could see the best jazz and rock band play good music.

Fantastic little place on the "other" side of the Arno. Very few tourists here, in fact the whole square had the vibe of a local hangout. It's a bit trendier and more modern than many of the other restaurants in Florence, so was fun for a change. Funky decor, young crowd, and just felt like a very "cool" hangout. Not packed to the gills, but it was a Tuesday in February so no promises for what it's like in July.

We shared roasted cuttlefish filled with tabbouleh, and pici with duck sauce. Oh mah god. The cuttlefish was fine - very well cooked, served with a nice bulgur salad inside, blah blah blah THE PICI WITH DUCK SAUCE. That stuff was magic. If I knew duck could be this delicious I'd spend more time feeding them by the riverside...to fatten them up and then eat them. Soft, tender, succulent meat in a complex and rich sauce, good lord. Can this be my last meal? We were nearly fighting over it.

I think we had dessert, and wine, but all else is forgotten. Service was a bit slow. I know it's Italy and that's normal but it was hard to get her attention at the beginning (I know it's always hard at the end when you want the bill). STILL. Brave the crowds, wait for service, do what you need to do - get the pici with duck sauce and be happy.

This was an awesome restaurant that we stumbled upon while we were searching for not a super touristy restaurant in a very touristy area... I can only recommend it! In fact, part of the reason I am writing this review is so that I will be able to find it again next time I go to Florence.
Be sure to eat some pasta there, they are freshly made all the time which you can watch as the kitchen is open. This place used to be a garage so you don't find yourself in a typical restaurant environment. They actually still left some of that garage feeling - albeit in a much more designer kind of way.
If you don't like pasta, I can also recommend the typical Italian aperitivo there: plates of high quality Italian ham, salami and cheese with a glass of whine or another drink.
The whine selection was also a plus, high quality regional whines for definitely acceptable prices.
So if you want a bit more modern interpretation of traditional Italian food, be sure to stop by. In the evening you should make a reservation - especially if you are a group of people going to eat later in the evening.

Both fresh pasta dishes we ordered were extraordinary
(tortello nero an tortella di ricotta), far from traditional
style. Apple cake was quite fine as well. Service was
too slow, however; antipasti were not available (strange
for 2pm in low season). All in all, recommended if you
are not pressed and are looking for some new gastronomic
experience. Prices are reasonable.

We were going to a different restaurant, suggested in the hotel. We noticed tamero with people making pasta and entered. We were happy to see sth different there other places. Fresh Italian food, especially pasta in a very up to date look. Nice staff.
