Description: Tamero is the coolest restaurant in Florence in the heart of Oltrarno: piazza Santo Spirito. The restaurant is well known for the express hand made pasta. After the 11.00 p.m. Tamero is a club where you could see the best jazz and rock band play good music.

Tamero' is a newcomer in the super popular and populated piazza santo spirito.
The introduces themselves as pasta bar hence what you expect is to find a quality of pasta able to satisfy your curiosity and taste....well, it was the less tasting pasta I have ever tried.
Everything started at the door, 15 minutes to wait for a certain Francesco just to know if They have or not a table.
While sitted, 15 minutes for the menu and 30 for someone to take order.
We had tagliere of salumi ( thinking about the faster!!!) and ravioli di asparagi with claims.
Could be everything. The 4 raviolis were floating on a broth (!!!!). No taste, no flavour simply ANYTHING
Results 2 hours of waiting for the worst pasta.
Just avoid it

We wanted to find the real Italy beyond all the bus people and tour guides and discovered the San Spirito Piazza -- too late to book our room there but just in time to stumble across all the great looking restaurants -- after experiencing Gusto Pizza at lunch time. (That's another happy story). Long story short, we came back to the Piazza for dinner and chose to sample Tamero, in large part because they put their fresh pasta making on display in the window and because it just looked different from everywhere else. The host/manager/waiter pegged us for American ASAP, but was great and spoke to us in clear English and sat us -- fortuitously-- at a two top right by the open kitchen where we spotted all kinds of dishes getting prepped and served. We had a fried bread/peppers/zuchini and goat cheese with tomato pesto -- a fresh misto salad -- the gnocchi and the pici with cheese and pepper. All the while we watched all the other great looking dishes being made and savored every bit of what we had. We didn't hear anyone else speak English in our close to two hours there and as you would expect it was getting busier as the night grew later. It's too late to relocate our hotel -- but there is a real good chance we will find ourselves back at Tamero again, before we leave Florence

Following a friend's recommendation, we ended up at Tamero's in Piazza S. Spirito. The restaurant front is very unpretentious and we could easily have missed it. This restaurant is very trendy and from what we've seen, very popular with locals as well as tourists. I don't know if they take reservations or not. We were early so we had no trouble getting in but it soon filled up.
We had an excellent meal there. We had one tuna dish which was outstandiing and their pasta was delicious as was the shared platter of marinated vegetables that we had as an appetizer. The house wine was also very good too.
The service was impeccable and very friendly. It certainly was great value: our meals + 2 litres of the house wine and beer was 90 euros for 5 people.

Tamaro is in a piazza all visitors to Florence should have a meal in at least once. Tamaro is new, different, upbeat and trendy--an interesting place appropriate for diners of all ages, whether couples, families, or groups of friends. Broad inspiration means you can try a tagliere (cutting board) of salami and cheese, but also fish and chips, chili, or spiced chicken with a medley of vegetables on cous cous. There are lots of other choices too, and many of them you see entering, as you pass the in-view kitchen. It's open at lunch and dinner, the service is friendly, the price is right. Decor definitely on the cutting edge. Live music sometimes. Each time I have been it has been crowded (once at lunch, and once at dinner), which means they are doing somehting right!! Try it out.
