The first time we went to Florence, my husband was so excited to show me this sculpture. More than Michelangelo's David, he was just beside himself to see this statue. He had read about it and learned all about it (like for example, he knew that Cellini burned down his house while pouring the molten metal in the casing when making the statue.) He must have taken 30 photos of it. It IS impressive and one should definitely go to see it. It's gory andthe fact he's holding up Medusa's severed head is pretty cool. If you're in the main piazza in Florence, you'll likely see it, especially if you are heading to the Uffize Gallery. I wouldn't travel all the way to Florence just to see this statue, but while we were there, it was good to see.
