The experienced owner and bartender Cristian Guitti knows his job cand aims at tickling the palates of prospective customers so that their five senses can reach a real state of pleasure. Sadly, after reading all the great reviews of the Bitter Bar, we decided to venture out and find this place for some fun cocktails. We found the hotel and bar but when we asked where the bitter bar was located the bar tender said "this is it...or it used to be. The owners sold it." Although we were there at 9pm, not a soul was in the place. We decided to look at the drink menu with the hopes that we could get one of the crazy/wild cocktails the bitter bar was known for. Sadly it a boring, nonunique drink list. If you were expecting the bar so wildly written up, you will be sadly disappointed

“Artisan Cocktails in Florence”
Reviewed January 10, 2014

My wife and I wanted a pre-dinner drink in Florence on Dec. 30 so decided to try Bitter Bar after reading good reviews on Trip Advisor. Good decision! The place was empty when we were there and offered a nice, quiet respite from the crazy tourist throngs of Florence. The bar is situated in the lobby of the Borghese Palace Art Hotel and has a great vibe. There's cool art all over the place and a feeling of contemporary elegance.

But the cocktails themselves are the real draw. At 7 euro each they're a steal. In New York or L.A. cocktails of this caliber would be $17 each. My wife tried "The Chinese Lady" after the waitress recommended it. It's a sweet, citrusy cocktail that is heavy on the lychee and is great if you like sweeter drinks. It came out with some sort of herb sprig on top - very nice presentation.

I ordered the Apricot Trandy - a brandy cocktail featuring "cigar." I was intrigued at the prospect of cigar as a drink flavor and sure enough the drink delivered. It was exquisite. One of the best cocktails I've had. The presentation was a bit much--it came out in a mason jar sealed with a napkin and with some sort of toasted meringue garnish--but the taste made up for it.

The drinks here are maybe a bit over the top but they're a great value and the ambience is excellent. Definitely check it out when you're in Florence!

Reviewed December 25, 2013 via mobile

Here are some of the things we loved:
Reasonably priced cocktails $7, no service charge;
Great friendly service, bartender Gerardo was a pleasure to talk to!
Free little plate of snacks- olives, chips, sauce.
Some of the fusion cocktails we had:
Pina colada with tobasco
Mojito with mint bitter and ginger
Martini with soya sauce, feta cheese and olive
Go find this place, it's an experience!!!

“Spectacular, inventive cocktails. If you like cocktails, put this place on your list!”
Reviewed November 17, 2013

The cocktails at Bitter Bar are phenomenal and incredibly inventive. The combination of ingredients are surprising and tasty. It's a small bar within a hotel, with a classy but not stuffy atmosphere. We enjoyed our visit so much, we went back a second time. If you are in Florence and like a good drink, you must visit this bar.
