We adored this place as our home base for 5 days in Florence. So easy to walk to everything you want to see, and we felt very safe walking back late at night. Very close to awesome restaurants and such too :) Also, this place is HUGE! Especially by international standards. Walk in closet by the bedroom with tons of space to hang your clothes, and the downstairs is awesome to spread out in after a long day of sightseeing. Loved having the washer available to let us pack a bit lighter. The stairs up to the unit didn't bother us a bit, well worth the walk up when you open the door and see this amazing unit :) Walking to the train station for a day trip to Venice was super easy too , this really is just the perfect location. Great apartment, super friendly owner!
This apartment was in a great location to walk to all of the main attractions, but was still private and quiet. You have to be careful with the loft style bed if you get up in the middle of the night, but the apartment was very nicely decorated and comfortable overall. Clean too.
This was a lovely apartment. We wanted to be very close to all the sights, but not in the middle to the tourist madness. This apartment's location just past Santa Croce is perfect, because you can get to things quickly, but you don't feel surrounded by tourists all the time. The apartment itself is lovely, with a substantial enough kitchen that we felt comfortable cooking dinners for ourselves. There is also a wonderful public market only twoblocks away that has amazing food.
This apartment is beautiful and has a central location. All the important places of tourist interest are within 1 to 2 kms - a walkable distance. There is a super market close by and many pizzas, cafes, water and alcohol shops and tabachis (tobacco place) at a few meters distance.
The apartment is tastefully done up but has many essentials missing.
In summers Florence is really warm and air conditioning is not so strong to cool the living space and the loft. It takes two hours of continuous air conditioning to cool the loft area a bit. Not a comfortable thing after you are back from sight seeing or dinner from outside. There is a small table fan provided for the loft which helps a bit.
There is no lock on the bathroom door. It's a problem when traveling with the family
There is no microwave which is a big problem if one wants to heat water for tea or some food. So when you want to bring back all the lovely food you buy at Mercato Centrale decide before hand how you will heat it.
Even the gas stove has a bit of a problem and it does not light up quickly. Only after two to three attempts you can get it working. That too only one stove of the 4 on the hob.
To make it worse there was no small pan in the kitchen to heat little water for a cup of tea. So in a huge pan I had to make one small cup of tea every time. Though there is a kettle in the pantry but it was full of salt deposits. And to top it all every pan in the kitchen was dirty. It had to be scrubbed before using. Even if there was a microwave we could have managed something.
No sieve was there though we didn't face this issue in any other apartment we stayed in Italy. But there was nothing here. However for coffee drinkers there is a coffee machine.
They have washing machine in the apartment but they do not provide laundry detergent. When we asked for it we were told to buy our own. It was pretty shocking bcoz buying a bottle of detergent for two washes?? These are the basics which all other apartment in Italy provided but for this one. As Florence is a town where lot of students from around the world reside so there are plenty of laundrettes. There were at least two in a 5 mins walking distance from this apartment.
This apartment is on the level 4. Climbing so many flights of staircase is an arduous task - with luggage its really a pain.
We stayed in apartments in different cities of Italy. They all provided with basics like oil, sugar, salt, pepper, coffee, tea, laundry soap and shower gel. But in this apartment it felt that the left overs by the other travellers is what one gets.
The apartment lacks a personal touch. Overall we came away with a feeling of missing something - convenience!
The owner gave us good information to visit the town, all the sites were few bloks away, the quartier market had everything we needed for cooking. The flat,on the third floor,is full of light,tv is a little small, but we dind't spend time watching it,there were too many things to do in few days!
We stayed here very happily having read the TA reviews - so we were prepared for the flights of stairs from ground floor to this loft apartment. The apartment is spacious and well appointed and a lovely retreat after a day of sightseeing and dining. There is plenty of vg TA recommended eateries very close by and lots of little grocers to get provisions for settling in for a few days. The owner and the assistant were both very helpful and obliging. Yes this is a great little pad if you're ok with the stairs. One thing - the bed is a double and quite low, and it is located in a mezzanine that is accessed via a spiral stair case ... But the bathroom is downstairs so if you need mid-sleep visits to the bathroom be prepared for the spiral descent and ascent!
