We chose this hotel based on Rick Steve's recommendation in his book and what a great decision. Staying there and getting Miriam's and Robert's hospitality was simply awesome. The location was great and the service was spectacular. I have never felt as comfortable and "at home" as I did there. Definitely will stay there again when I go to Italy. I wish they had more locations around the world :). Would recommend to all!

A great little hotel right in the middle of it all. Wonderful staff - Roberto especially so helpful with the busses and just getting around the town. Great breakfast!!! Best! Beds were a little firm for me but otherwise nothing to complain about. Two blocks from the center - everything in Firenzi is within walking distance - 15 minutes or less.

Very nice hotel, very nice lady at the reception, very well-located, simple but "ottimo", to be recommended ! The rooms are clean and large, nice atmosphere, beautiful view over the dome, good breakfast, friendly ambiance.

We chose this hotel based on recommendations in Rick Steves' "Italy 2013" guidebook and on reading reviews on TripAdvisor. We booked 2 rooms (one for my wife and I and one for our daughter) and stayed here for 5 days in the middle of March, 2014. The location was excellent (just a block away from the Duomo) with many restaurants and shops nearby. In fact, we could see the Duomo from the balcony of our room. This is a family-owned hotel and they obviously take pride in running it and in the service they provide. We arrived at the hotel late at night in our rental car and didn't know where to park it. In fact, we parked it illegally on the street in front of the hotel and headed up the elevator to check in. Roberto greeted us at the door and quickly called to have a parking attendant pick up our car and park it at a nearby garage. Miriam and Roberto were most gracious hosts and were helpful in every imaginable way. They both speak excellent English and gave us some excellent recommendations on restaurants and shops in the area. Miriam recommended a shop nearby to purchase clothing for our grandchildren and told us to mention her name. When we did, the shop owner gave us a 30% discount on the clothing! Miriam was also extremely helpful to us when we had issues using our ATM card to get cash from the cash machines. She let us use her phone and was able to contact our bank in the United States so we could talk to a bank representative to get our problem resolved. Our room was clean and comfortable and rather large, by Italian standards. The free WiFi and TV in the room worked great, and it was a pleasure to receive English-speaking stations. When we went to the breakfast room in the morning, Miriam was always prompt in getting us our coffee and tea and she or the other staff members always quickly replenished any breakfast items that were getting depleted at the buffet table, without being asked. We very much enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Europa and would definitely stay here again on our next visit.

Room Tip: Ask for the room with a balcony and a view of the Duomo.

Robert and Miriam are wonderful hosts making sure we were comfortable and all our needs were met. Whether it was a problem with the TV, or a little cold in our room, Robert was on it and it was fixed. I was very impressed with his attentiveness. The location is great and right across the street from the Tourist Information, and down the block from the Duomo. The building is old and riding the elevator is a fun experience.
Be aware: The hotel itself takes up one section of the 2nd floor of the much larger building. It is not a hotel on the ground floor. The building is an old building like many in the neighborhood and the hotel feels a little old when you walk in. But Robert and Miriam make up for this with their charm and help.

We had a wonderful 8 night stay here in April. The hotel is in a great central location - - - short walking distance to major sights, restaurants, delicatessens, grocery stores, gelaterias, bakeries, and bread shops. We walked to the hotel from the train station (no need for a bus or taxi). Miriam and Roberto are two of the nicest hosts you could hope to meet. Our room was clean and bright with ample storage space, although the placement of the desk and bed made for a tight squeeze when moving about. We were greeted each morning to bird song and a view of the Duomo and Campanile. Remember to close your windows during the periods when mosquitoes are active. We did not hear any noise from the street. No problems with the reliability or speed of the WiFi. The TV only had 5 or so stations, all English speaking ones; it would have been nice to also get some Italian speaking stations, such as the ones aired in the breakfast room. The continental breakfast was sufficient to get you started each day, and the large breakfast room was conducive to engaging other guests in conversation. We took the stairs when we had the energy and the elevator when we didn’t. No question we would stay here again on our next visit.

Location - Great. About two blocks from the Duomo and 1 km from main train station. We had a view of the bell tower from our window.
Prices - Great.
Comfort - Perfectly fine. Room was clean. Bed was firm by American standards but typical for Italy. TV in room didn't work but that was not a problem for us.
Breakfast - Not impressive at all. Very limited selection.
Service - The proprietors were extremely nice. However, when we arrived there was no one who spoke English so getting checked in was awkward.
Atmosphere - Not impressive. To get to the hotel you must take a creaky elevator inside a dark and gloomy building. There might have been only one or two other guests during our stay, which felt a bit creepy.
I really wanted to give this place a lower rating because of breakfast and atmosphere but felt guilty about doing so. They do try hard. If you are on a budget and want a convenient place to sleep, go for it. However if we return to Florence I will look for a nicer place.
