“Elegant, affordable alternative to hiring your own villa!”
Reviewed May 17, 2010

We stayed here for 5 days, 6 nights and we can not recommend it highly enough. The staff were friendly and gave personalised service that is impossible to get at chain hotels. The restaurants recommended were also off the beaten track and made the whole Florence experience a memorable one. We had a lousy start to our vacation with our flights being re-routed due to the volcanic ash and our luggage being lost but once we got to the hotel everything changed and went smoothly. It says a lot when you go to a place tired and in a bad mood then just 5 minutes after checking in you are a happy person.

The breakfasts are great: cereals, cheeses, croissants, toast and coffee, orange juice. you can also have eggs if you ask for it from the kitchen. The room was comfortable and elegantly decorated, with a big shower room.

Being a comfortable distance away from the city centre is also a bonus. It is only a few minutes walk to the tourist sites, but far away enough to make you feel like you are experiencing "the real Florence". You also get to know the place a bit more -- its sidestreets and amazing restaurants/shops you wouldn't have been able to discover if you stayed in the city centre where they churn out mediocre tourist stuff. Will definitely come back!

Villa Antea is an elegant villa off the beaten track in Florence, a respite from the hustle and bustle and a window into this beautiful city. Very comfortable rooms (we stayed in two different ones because our stay was split) with high ceilings and a huge modern cool bathroom. Diletta and her staff are extremely welcoming and friendly but discreet. A great breakfast in an elegant dining room.

When we were stranded an extra 5 days in Florence in April 2010 because of the Iceland volcanic ash situation, we returned to the Villa Antea. Very glad we did - it was much more relaxing than being in a big hotel in the center of the city (where we had also stayed for several nights).

We travel fairly frequently, and this was one of our top picks ever. Thanks to Trip Advisor for tuning us in to the wonderful hotel.

I spent 2 x nites here, and would definitely return. My room was exactly as pictured on the site, the bed big and comfortable and the bathroom light-filled, and enormous. No bathtub, but a great shower. The staff are very friendly, helpful and accomodating. The location is a bit outside the tourist zone, but that's a plus in my books, and the relative quiet and lack of crowds a welcome respite after a day of site-seeing with the hordes.

My partner and I stayed at Villa Antea for 2 nights on a fast-paced tour of Italy. Our hostess, Diletta, was wonderful and so accommodating. She personally made sure we had everything we needed and gave us great advice on tours, how to get to downtown Florence, places to eat, sights to see and inside scoop. (All this while they managed the complicated tangle of reservations and cancellations that occurred after the volcanic ash cloud stopped European air travel). The hotel itself is very nice and the rooms are spacious and well appointed. The bathroom was very clean and spacious, not the telephone booth size we had experienced elsewhere, and we had plenty of room in the bedroom as well. It was obvious that the hotel staff is into constant improvement and making their accommodations everything you need as a traveler. Breakfast was good and the staff was accommodating even when we got to breakfast late. One of our favorite parts of our visit was the sweet small dog, Marta, who greeted us when we'd arrive back at the hotel. She played with us and that helped us as we missed our four legged friends back home. We also highly recommend an excellent Italian restaurant nearby, Il Clarinetto - a serendipitous find that came up on my iPhone when we were looking for some good food in the area. The warmth of the staff there was wonderful. We went in for dinner and left with more friendships.
We highly recommend Villa Antea and will stay there again next time we visit Florence.

The room was beautiful and the bathroom was absolutely huge and gorgeous, The neighborhood area was quiet and relaxing, yet within walking distance to buses and to the city centre. The host and staff were most kind and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. We would highly recommend the Villa Antea to any travellers to Florence. Your memories made there will never be forgotten.

As a seasoned traveler I feel very qualified to recommend this wonderful and extremely comfortable villa as the perfect place to be based whether just exploring Florence or the beautiful countryside around the city. Very easy access by car to the main highways to Tuscany etc. A haven to come back to after a day out. Large, supremely comfortable rooms and terrific bathrooms. Mini bar and tea/coffee facilities in the rooms. Breakfast was buffet style and very good. I can't say enough about the gracious hospitality extended to us by Diletta and her team. Nothing was too much trouble and Diletta really listened to us when we discussed the type of restaurants we were looking for and her recommendations never disappointed. A very important aspect of the trip for us! Don't hesitate to book. You will love it! You will also meet Marta who is from Capri and a most charming hostess.

The rooms and bathrooms are spacious, beautiful and clean. The staff is very friendly and helpful. There is no access to computers or WIFI, although the staff will help you out if you have something you want to look up. The breakfast is very good for a B&B. They offer a selection of various cold cuts, cheese, breads, yogurts, spreads, and coffee. They will also prepare omelets, or anything else that you may want from the kitchen, on request. The rooms are quiet and there is not much noise from the streets as this is a fairly calm neighborhood.
The B&B is located slightly outside the city center. It will take you about 20-30 minutes to walk to the main attractions. Buses are available, but the routes are not optimal so going by bus will take about 20-30 minutes as well.
Overall this is a perfect place for families and couples, looking for a peaceful stay, not minding the distance to the center. It may not be the cheapest place to stay, but if you can afford it I am pretty sure you will appreciate it.

Dear Sir/Madame,
thank you for your kind review, we are glad you enjoyed your stay at Villa Antea and appreciated the help of our staff. Unfortunately there was probably a misunderstanding because we do have free wi-fi connection in every room (even if some times it is weaker than others). I'm sorry you were not able to use the PC.
Also, since we understand that it is not easy to travel around Europe with a computer, we decided to get a laptop for our guests that need to surf on internet.
Thank you for your suggestion!!!
I wish you all the best and thank you again for choosing Villa Antea for your stay in Florence.
Best regards.
