“Villa Antea”
Reviewed January 4, 2014

We stayed in Villa Antea during Christmas 2013 with booking via direct website in advance. The owner/operator Diletta is nice, informative and tasteful, and understand the need of travellers. The decor have extremely good taste, the curtain, upholstery, metal work, lighting, bathroom and table setting are carefully crafted. It is not surprised when understanding that Diletta's family owned the mansion for over a century. This is only six rooms, very small, and have a lot of warmth. The room and bathroom are spacious and spotlessly clean. The neighbourhood is good with approx 15-20 minutes walk from Frienze SMN train station and again 15-20 minutes walk to Academia and Duomo. Dieletta also prerpared a small guide showing handy and necessary information for Frienze, and her recommendation of restaurants and gourment shops are very good indeed. Also good connection with Wifi.

We stayed as a family of four on our recent holiday to Italy. Diletta and her housekeeper were incredibly accommodating; they fit an extra bed into the room, arranged parking in the courtyard for our car, provided an excellent restaurant recommendation and pointed out and marked the routes for various sights in Florence. The breakfast was superb, beyond any of the breakfasts I had during the rest of my holiday. The rooms are warm, beautiful and majestic all at the same time. It was no problem for them, accommodating us as a family. On a final note, Diletta's friend makes some stunning pieces of jewelry, which she sells at reception! I would love to go back to Villa Antea, if i'm ever in Florence (with out without my family) again!

We loved our stay at Villa Antea and will definitely be back. Diletta and her staff are wonderful, the rooms are fantastic and the breakfasts perfect. We could not fault our experience and look forward to our next visit. This is an outstanding option when wanting to stay in Florence. Well done, Villa Antea!

We stayed at Villa Antea for the second half of our honeymoon and found it to be simply fantastic! The staff were so welcoming and friendly, speaking great English. Our room was huge and beautifully furnished, with a walk-in wardrobe, spacious bathroom (including the enormous shower) and very comfortable bed. The breakfasts were very good, in beautiful surroundings. The Villa is about 15 minutes from the old town, so a bit of a walk but nice and quiet. We were given an extremely useful booklet with the staff's recommendations for restaurants and practicalities - we used this frequently. To cap it all off, we were given a complementary bottle of champagne to celebrate our new marriage!

I stayed at Villa Antea for 8 days in December. This was my first visit to Florence. The location is perfect and away from the hustle and bustle of the noisy town center. Everything is within reasonable walking distance or buses are readily available. The villa is beautiful and a historic family home that Diletta has every right to be proud of. The rooms are large and very well-maintained. The bathroom and shower are a sight to behold. The breakfast was excellent as well as the attentive service. I highly recommend Villa Antea for those visiting Florence.

We really enjoyed our stay here. Great location, close to sites but still quiet. Safe neighborhood, lacking the crush of tourists. Many places to eat nearby frequented by local folks. Our large room was near elegant with nineteen-foot high ceilings with interesting crown moldings, a large enough shower for miniature golf, and best of all for me they used goose down pillows. I travel allot and am very tired of hard pillows filled with urethane foam. The breakfast was a standard European breakfast, but I understand they will make eggs for people who prefer a different breakfast. Service was outstanding, staff was very attentive. Security was excellent with no access from the street through windows, etc. The lobby and stairs have wonderful books and paintings to enjoy. We stayed off season, late November, but felt fortunate to get a room here. I would suggest booking far in advance as there are not many rooms at the Villa. The only thing that could be considered negative was the light did not function in the closet, but I am sure they would have attended to this if I had mentioned it. I want to go back, soon.

After reading all the reviews from TA we decided to book 4 nights. We were not disappointed. They do deserve their high ratings. As soon as we walk in we were given all the much needed info of Florence, our room was picture perfect -- from the comfortable bed, heated floors, high ceiling and a very spacious bathroom. Florina (?) the housekeeper is at the dining room as soon as she hears any doors opening. The breakfast table is well-stocked. You can ask for capuccino, espresso and prepare eggs for free.

There's a bus that runs every 15 mins to the town, and the bus to the get to old town is just a a few meters away. There's a few deli, pizzeria and laundry close by.
