Review of Hotel Davanzati
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Jun 10, 2008
For the first time, I have found the 99% perfect hotel! Spotlessly clean, generous rooms, white noise device in case of noise which never happened since the windows are double paned -
lovely free breakfast and upscale free happy hour.
Fabrizio & Tomaso arranged all the details that are supposedly impossible to get in Firenze "at the last minute". The friendliness and attention to detail was astounding. WE felt as if we were coming into our familily's "parlor" when we arrived back at night to perhaps select a DVD or use the free laptop provided in every room. Let's change that from 99% to 100% perfect. I almost forgot to mention the large, rooms in the renaissance style, and large comfy beds.
The family of three gentlemen (I believe) who run this hotel are qualified to teach their technique of customer satisfaction to hotel schools. We have relatives in the business, and we can't wait to have them stay at Hotel Davanzati. Don't look for any other place in Firenze & waste your time. It's all here. :)

This is a great small hotel. The staff and service were absolutely superb - put almost all other hotels to shame in this respect. It had a lot of wee extras that help make your stay such as laptop with free internet, DVD/PS2, DVD library, small book library, and a complementary happy hour with drinks and nibbles each evening.

Only drawbacks are:
- if you have a lot of luggage there is a steep set of stairs to climb to get to the lift. Although we went and checked with reception and they sent their porter to get the bags.
- In my initial order my email unknowingly got spammed, which meant my order of two nights was not confirmed and we could only stay one night. However, the staff sorted out another hotel (higher star class but cheaper price) just up the street. So if you book via the internet follow up on your email order to ensure it is confirmed.

Hotel Davanzati was our first stay as we arrived in Italy. The first thing you notice is the professionalism of the staff. Tommasso and his family do a wonderful job of taking care of your every need. Their suggestions for meals was excellent and what a wonderful addition to our stay to have a Happy Hour every evening. It gave us the opportunity to talk to other guests and get other suggestions for sights, etc. A PC in every room is such a plus and very unusual. The location was excellent and within walking distance of everywhere we wanted to go. Thank you!

We stayed here just two short nights and loved this hotel, in fact it was our favorite on our two week Europe vacation! I booked based on Trip Advisor reviews and was a little concerned about the reviews being real or accurate, but everything was true! The room was on the cozy side but very charming and well appointed. The staff was super helpful, especially assisting us with dinner reservations. The happy hour was magical with great music, candles everywhere with wine and prosecco flowing. The bartender was charming! Breakfast was very nice, with made to order cappuccino and lattes by an equally charming attendant. Great location, great price. Magical! I hope someday to come back to Florence and we will definitely stay here.

The Hotel Davanzati is THE place to stay in Florence. Our only regret is that we had to leave! The staff is warm and welcoming, and you are treated as if you are a dear friend. The rooms are tastefully decorated and exceptionally clean, and the laptop access was a definite bonus. Delicious breakfast every morning and a terrific happy hour every night. An added bonus was the recipe cards for the delicious 'Davanzati Sauce', which was served at happy hour. Museum/restaurant suggestions and reservations were a tremendous help. Also, we were happy to find a large selection of travel books in the lobby as well as in the hallway by our room. I can't recommend this hotel enough!!! Stay there- you won't regret it!!
And you can't beat the location- it is central to everything!

We stayed three nights at Hotel Davanzati in May, 2008. We booked one of the three suites and were pleasantly surprised. The room and sitting area were large and we had our own private deck. Upon taking us to our room Fabrizio told us that it had been his room for six years! We would highly recommend a suite. Everything about Hotel Davanzati is A-1. Look no farther for a hotel in Florence.
