“A wonderful boutique hotel in every way.”
Reviewed May 2, 2014

We initially chose JK Place because of its convenient location near the Santa Maria Novella train station and because it’s also within walking distance to many cultural attractions, restaurants and shops in the heart of medieval Florence. We ended up really liking this hotel’s seamless mix of historic and modern ambiance. The hotel’s sitting room, dining area, library and other common areas are very stylish, comfortable and inviting places to relax in with a nice glass of wine after exploring the city. The service was impeccable too. The concierges provided excellent recommendations and gladly arranged advanced tickets to several museums for us. The concierge staff made dinner reservations for us at the nearby Enoteca Il Santo Bevitore, just over the Ponte alla Carraia bridge on the south side of the Arno River. It was an amazing dining experience and the best meal we had in Florence (even better than the tasting menu we had at Michelin 1-Star Ristorante Ora d'Aria). JK Place’s sidewalk café was also wonderful, offering a great view of the Piazza Santa Maria Novella and the Basilica. The JK Café also offered very good cuisine and a great wine selection.

We thought the style, comfort, size and privacy of the secluded two-story Penthouse Suite were ideal. We also loved the large, luxurious, bathroom that was very well-appointed with a two-person soaking tub, a separate two-person shower and large windows overlooking Florence. The delicious breakfasts as well as the many amenities and little “extras” offered by the hotel were very much appreciated too. The suite’s outdoor terrace was a perfect spot for breakfast every morning and the view of Cappelle Medicee, the Duomo, Palazzo Vecchio and the rooftops of Florence from the terrace and bathroom was absolutely magnificent. JK Place is a wonderful boutique hotel in every way.

I probably was very unlucky with my assigned room but the "Deluxe" room I was staying in was absolutely tiny (a double bed, a small sofa and small table left almost no room for anything else). The worst part was that there almost no light as the room opened into an airs shaft. What this meant is that the room was so depressing that I had absolutely no desire to spend any more time there than I had to. Maybe that is the price one pays for going down the "trendy" route.

On the plus side, the staff is terrific. Everyone was very kind and competent.

I was familiar with magnificently designed JK from Capri, so I selected it for Florence and it did not disappoint. The place is just beautifully designed with the utmost in taste and refinement, and a happy balance between old (almost neoclassic) and new. For a small boutique hotel, there are countless places to sit and relax, eat and drink, workout and more. The service was wonderfully attentive, the food outstanding and the room delightfully comfortable. The breakfast is served in a lovely communal dining room and snacks and refreshments are put out all day. There is also a rooftop area available for dining or drinking and a gym and spa (but I did not have enough time to use them). The staff is friendly and helpful and I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a chic and peaceful respite in a bustling city. It also sits right on the Piazza Santa Maria Novella, so it's a perfect setting and is convenient to the train station.

Just back from a fantastic 4-night stay at the beautiful JK Place Florence. JK lived up to our high expectations, perfectly located 5 to 10 minutes away from the major sights, top boutiques, Arnol river and my two favorite shops, Officina di Santa Maria Novella and Dr Vranjes for their exquisite products and scents.

Very friendly welcome upon arrival, amazing attention to details in common areas, excellent quality of furniture, fixtures, linens, art books throughout the hotel including in Guest rooms. Our was a superior with view of roofs, top floor terrace and further away the tirer of Palazzo Vecchio, charming yet on the small side. Very subtle and soothing colors with always the same exquisite taste.

Good breakfast even though we are not great fans of the communal table sitting with other guests. Good dinner with attentive service. Lots of short breaks in between visits at the nearby museums, palazzi, churches and ...shops to enjoy complimentary expressi - the best ever- with nibbles, homemade torte and other snacks so no bad service with the final bill, everything is included and we enjoyed that immensely. Lovely, professional team of experts at the desk/library with good advice and genuine kindness. Grazie mille Angela and Giovanni, to name a few. We look forward to experiencing JK in Roma and Capri and hopefully one day Venice.

This place sets a standard for service and attentiveness that will be hard to match. Our room was elegant, yet still comfortable, with large windows that open out onto the Piazza Santa Maria Novella. The staff was most attentive to every detail from restaurant advice to help with the museums to insuring that my wife had coffee when needed. Touring around on foot in Florence can be exhausting. But having a haven like this place to return to makes it seem easy. Be sure to sit in the outdoor cafe and watch the world go by in the Piazza. Thank you JK Place for making our stay in Florence absolutely perfect in every respect.

The drinks are pricey but the service is great, the view of Santa Maria Novella is wonderful, you get a little plate if snacks and the overall vibe is just perfect for an evening end of day drink. Make sure you check out the lounge inside. You will want to come back.

This boutique hotel is simply beautiful, however, the rooms are teeny tiny. We had one of the larger rooms (with a steep price tag of $1200 a night) and there was literally no room for luggage. It was a shame as we had to line our 3 suitcases up against the windows, and lost access to the little veranda because too hard to get around suitcase! The breakfast they serve was lovely, the outside cafe really not great, and with such wonderful restaurants in the neighborhood, no reason to really have more than a glass of wine there.
