We stayed for several nights at this hotel just recently and had a wonderful time. The hotel is so beautiful, centrally located and has every accommodation. The staff at the front desk are so warm, friendly and extremely helpful. My only complaint was that the waitresses in the breakfast room were a bit cranky, but still very efficient and the food was excellent!
The hotel reserved tickets in advance for us to see The David and also to go to The Ufizzi and even though it was more expensive than if we would have walked down there ourselves and stood in line, it was WELL worth it because we just breezed passed all the lines & lines and were able to get in and out so easily.
We highly recommend this beautiful hotel!

This was our first trip to Florence, and we loved this hotel. The location was close to the station and all the major attractions, the staff were very friendly and the rooms were spacious and superbly decorated. We enjoyed the experience of staying in this hotel and when we return to Florence, we will stay here again.

The hotel is in a great location right in the Duomo Piazza Santa Maria. However, it is very difficult to find parking so we ended up using the valet at 35 euro per day. It was a hot day at the end of April when we checked in and when we got to the room it was HOT. We called front desk to learn that the AC is not turned on until May (even though the website and Expedia highlighted AC as a feature.) The room we were in had really low ceilings and was facing the street on the ground floor. We asked to be moved to a higher floor facing the courtyard so that we can open the window and be subject to less noise. The staff were willing to accomodate but not apologetic, but we were tired and just tried to relax.

The rooms are pretty varied. The room we originally had (booked through Expedia) was small and old feeling. The second room was a lot nicer with more modern furnishings and higher ceilings.

Breakfast was included but not great. The prosciutto was not very good and the selection was somewhat slim. Pretty furnishings and great location but lots of other drawbacks so I would unlikely go back.

We spent 8 days here seeing Florence & the surrounding Tuscany countryside. The hotel was clean and the staff was extremely accomodating. The breakfast they serve is wonderful. It is about 3-4 blocks from the Duomo and centerally located to shopping, museums & churches. Ther eis a great Irish pub in the same block wher eyou can stop in for a nightcap since the hotel bar closes at 10:30. They have a great rooftop patio that overlooks Santa Maria Novella Piazza. The only drawbacks are:
(1) it is close to the train/bus station, so you get noise about 4:30 am from people pulling suitcases along the cobblestone steps. I recommend asking for a room on a high floor, but you won't completely escape it;
(2) the hotel is 3 buildings, so the floors don't line up, which makes it confusing to get from the lobby to the appropriate elevators to go to your room or the rooftop terrace;
(3) it is at one end of the city, so several attractions are a 20-25 minute walk, but still easily walkable since Florence's streets are flat;
(4) the water in the shower fluctuates temperature from cold to hot. This appears to be a function of the time you take your shower; off-times the water temp is more consistent.

Room Tip: Try to get a top floor and one that faces the piazza. A lot of the sutcase traffic noise comes up the street on the back-side of the hotel. Also, if you want a tub, request a room with a tub, not just a shower. Depending on how much you get out of the city and into some towns with more hilly streets that provide "hiking" conditions, a soaking tub can be helpful at the end of the day.

Very good hotel within walking distance of santa maria novella train station. Also close to Duomo and other attractions. Our double room was spacious, very well decorated, clean and with good sized bathroom. Room 225. A strange experience was an unfinished staircase inside room closet leading nowhere, without any exit....just there. Noise from outside quite bad starting at 6am because it faces a street. Customer service at hotel was very good. The best we experienced in our travel to Italy...from Milano to Venezia to Florence and Rome. Very good hotel with two good not expensive restaurants close Galgani and Latini. Don't go to Bucamara rest. Overpriced and overrated. Very good breakfast...complete.

Room Tip: Double room
