What a wonderful find! From the outside, Il Villino seems like any other home in Florence, but as soon as the door opens you feel like you are entering another world. The rooms and the courtyard were perfect with a wonderful ambiance. The breakfast in the morning was delicious and filling. Sergio and his family could not have been more helpful. The restaurants that Sergio recommended were excellent, local, and reasonable. I would absolutely stay there again.

Most of the nice buildings in Florence are behind old walls and this hotel is not in exception. It is located behind a block of flats fronting the road. After one goes through a shared passage the hotel entrance explodes in front of you.
The hotel is extremely pretty and has a homely environment. As it says it is small and has about ten rooms.
We had our breakfast in the courtyard. It is shaded by the surrounding buildings and sunscreens in the middle. The air filled with soft operatic music making the morning very gentle.
We are not a big eater and the provision was right. The owner's wife prepared to do more if needed. It is good to see that food is not unnecessarily wasted.
The room was clean so as the en-suite shower room.
As the hotel has been renovated for a number of years, there are signs that the tiles in the shower room are giving way to water. It is not serious but would be nice to get the joints closed up.
The owner, his wife and their son all had a chance to greet us in the three days when we were there. They are very warm.

Room Tip: If you want to stay in a small hotel is may be the one for you.

We stayed at Il Villino for two nights as part of our Tuscan adventure. Here are 3 amazing things about Il Villio:
- Elizabeth, Sergio and Lorenzo (our hosts) were absolutely brilliant. Nothing was too much trouble and the whole experience from booking to check out was just lovely. They also made sure that our stay was enjoyable with their attention to detail with regard to the accommodation and the breakfast. Bravo!
- The location is superb and very close to the Duomo (5 mins), David and all the other museums. There are also some very good restaurants close by, and thanks to Sergio for his recommendation.
- The little terrace was a lovely spot for breakfast and for a spot of relaxation from the hustle of the city.

So why not 5? Our room is meant for families and there was just the two of us. The room also had the most unusual bathroom (see photo) with a step down to the "facilities". It looks like this was originally a store cupboard or even a stair well. Apart from that the room was more like an apartment for us. Note: if you are a light sleeper you will need earplugs due to the proximity of the road and front door.

Overall, I would recommend as a great base to enjoy all that Florence has to offer.

Sergio and Elizabeth (the owners) made sure everything we had everything we needed for a great stay in Florence. It was our first trip to Florence and Residenza Il Villino was a short walk to the Duomo and Uffizi Gallery (and some of the best gelato in the city). The B&B is in a quiet, residential street, with large rooms and a serene breakfast patio. Every morning, we enjoyed cappacino and amazing pasteries and other food, and then explored the city with Sergio's help in pointing us in the right direction each time we set out. Lovely place and we will definitely stay there again.

Residenza Il Villino far exceeded our expectations. The courtyard is absolutely adorable where we enjoyed our continental breakfast each morning and we also enjoyed sitting there in the evening while enjoying a glass of wine. The rooms were very spacious and clean. The shower is a little small but the rest of the bathroom is very spacious and updated. Sergio & Elizabeth were very helpful and the perfect hosts!! We would definitely stay here again and we will not hesitate to recommend to anyone going to Florence. The location is is within a a couple blocks walking to all the major attractions.

My wife and I stayed here in July and could not have been happier with our choice. Sergio, the owner was a wonderful host. He and his family went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. The B&B is off the beaten path a little(meaning it was quiet) but was still an easy walk to the Duomo and Uffizi Gallery. We had a beautiful room on the top floor with a great view of the Duomo. Sergio also made great restaurant recommendations. They were small family run establishments with excellent food and great service. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip to Florence.

Well positioned, quiet, extremely helpful staff, clean, well maintained, a wealth of useful guide books to borrow, free wifi in your room, tasty and plentiful breakfasts, reasonable value for money. What's not to like?
