I have stayed at the Hotel Globus on several occasions and it is always a pleasure.
The hotel's position so close to the main station and close to the Duomo and the Medici Chapel makes it the perfect location for sightseeing. The rooms are always clean and self-contained and the buffet breakfast caters for everyone. But above all the staff are always exceptional and special mention has to go to Luca and Nicola who are brilliant and happy to help wherever possible.

Room Tip: Worth booking a room with the super view of the Medici Chapel

Dear dolcevita14,

Thank you very, very much for your yet another stay, it’s always a pleasure to have you and your family members as our guest! Our evening chats were always a great way to exchange views on various facts and things:)

I really hope that everything’s well back in London and that you’ll have another occasion to escape the big metropolis and spend some time among art and good food with your sons and husband. And of course among us!:)

We’re absolutely looking forward to seeing you again, please take care and have a great summer!

Best regards,

Stayed here for two nights for a Business trip, super hotel, hotel staff are excellent, location super so near the train station, great restaurants nearby including our favourite Zaza restaurant.
We loved the free happy hour each night with a free glass of wine and nibbles, what a great touch.
Room good size and temperature perfect and very quiet, excellent breakfast too.
Will be staying here again n Jan 2014, it really was that good.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 202, very quiet.

I stayed at the hotel globus for 4 nights earlier this month. The staff and location were fantastic. This hotel is easy to get to from the train station, walking distance to all sights, right next to the market and overall is ideally situated. The hotel staff at the front desk and at breakfast were excellent. Very helpful and friendly. Breakfast consisted of coffee, hot chocolate or juice, pastries, hard boiled eggs, and cereals.

The room was relatively clean with the only thing I found being a couple of flies swatted on the wall that weren't cleaned when we checked in but were after a couple of days. The room was also small but worth the trade off for the location. You do need to use stairs to get up and down so should be able to carry your luggage or will need to seek assistance from hotel staff. The bathroom was incredibly small. See my picture. At 6ft and even shorter tall you cannot sit on the toilet straight. I had to sit sideways and have the shower doors open so my knees would fit. To fit in the shower you have to turn sideways and squeeze in so if you're a little bigger around the waste you may not fit. It is also difficult to turn around or pick up soap should you drop it. Other than that it was all good and I would stay here again.

We have been staying at the Globus Hotel on and off for the past 12 years each time we have visited Florence - and I hope we will again. The staff are very helpful and the rooms are clean and comfortable - the only down side is that the reception in on the 2nd floor with a staircase from the street - so carrying your heavy bags up the stairs can be an issue so I would advise that you use the intercom to ask for help from the reception with your bags from the street. There is a two person lift from the 2nd floor which is handy to take your bags up to the higher floors.

Dear American-Traveller,

We’d like to thank you so much for your yet another stay, it’s always a pleasure seeing you in Florence and a great honor that you’ve been choosing our Globus for all these years!

As for what you wrote about the suitcases and the lobby being on the second (European first) floor, I can only agree with your tip – if you’re tired after a long trip and don’t feel you can make it taking the bags up just ring the buzzer, if we’re on the spot and can come right down we will gladly help you! Usually though it is us who anticipate it, coming downstairs as soon as we see you on our monitor:)

Thank you very much once again, if you happen to be in Florence again you know where to find us!

Best regards,
Luca – Hotel Globus

We stayed at the Globus Hotel for 8 nights, and our experience there was excellent. Our room, #304, had a small patio with views of the Medici Chapel. Very romantic. The room was very clean and well appointed, including a laptop! We had a king size bed and it was very comfortable. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, very important to us since it was our first time in Florence. They helped us book day trips, recommended restaurants, made dinner reservations, etc. The breakfast was lovely, and a bonus was happy hour from 6:30-7:30 (wonderful way to meet fellow travelers!) I highly recommend this hotel, and we would definitely stay here again. Thank you for a wonderful visit, Michel, Luca and Nicholas!!

Dear econover,

Let us all thank you very much for staying with us and for your wonderful words, we greatly appreciate your compliments since they mean that we’re going in the right direction running Globus!

I agree that 304 is a nice room – it’s the only one that has a little balcony overlooking the Medici Chapels, plus it’s a Superior room, therefore it comes with a laptop that you can use to keep in touch with your family and friends or simply to study the next step of your trip.

We’re also very grateful that you appreciated our breakfast and happy our, plus our efforts to making your stay as pleasant as possible! Let’s hope you’ll be back!

Well, thank you again for being our guests, we’re looking forward to seeing you again in the future!

Best regards,

A good hotel for proximity to some major attractions. Helpful staff. An easy walk to the Duomo, The Uffizi, Ponte Vecchio etc. Very close to the leather markets and the brilliant indoor food market- a stunning array or cheeses, parma ham, salami , fish , seafood etc plus fresh produce, wine and olive oil. You will wish you had an apartment so you could cook.
I recommend Trattoria Guido for dinner. Lovely food, very reasonable and friendly staff.
I had a superior room which was lovely- plenty of space, a bath and shower.
The hotel is very close to the station and easy to find from there. 21 euro taxi from Florence airport. If you have time get a train to Prato from Firenze Santa Maria Novella station- 5 euro return-and have a walk around and have lunch. Prato is stunning and a quieter place than Flrence. Museums very cheap and duomo free. Some fantastic shoe shops.

Room Tip: Superior room at the back of the hotel.

Dear RedPCGirl,

Firstly let us thank you for your review and for your recent stay. From what we can read here your trip to Florence was rather fruitful and rich of different experiences, good for you! By the way, I wholeheartedly agree that one should visit the nearby Mercato Centrale (the food market) – it’s so full of different things to try (and buy)!

We’re also glad that you enjoyed your Superior room and that our staff and position had made your stay even more pleasant.

Thank you again, we’re looking forward to your next stay! Until then please take care.

Best regards,

We stayed here for 2 nights and it was okay. The front desk are really nice and helpful. Elevator is scary. Are room is really small that you don't have enough space to open your luggage. Bed are hard ( european bed) We have friends with us that stay in different hotel and it was way bigger room and more pleasant than ours (the price is cheaper than our room) but a bit far from the train station. Nice selection for breakfast and its free. I didn't sleep good on our first night as I hear all the foot step and bothers me a lot. The 2nd night was fine as I drink more wine that helps me to sleep. I love the location as its very near to duomo, Restaurant, and bars. Easy to find as there is land marks that are easy to remember. Price are okay you get what you pay..

Dear absinthe_minded_JVD,

We would all like to thank you very much for your stay and for your review, we’re glad to know that despite some minor inconveniences you were able to enjoy our beautiful city.

Firstly, we’re very happy that you liked our breakfast and that our staff didn’t let you down! Also, as you had a chance to notice, our location does make a difference when it comes to planning a busy day of sightseeing.

As for the room’s size, the one that you’d booked (Economy Twin) is indeed quite small, just like you can understand from its description on our official website and all other booking websites. It is a perfect solution for those who are willing to sacrifice a bit of space to get a good rate while still enjoying all our services and benefits of staying in the heart of the historic city center. We’re certain that your review would be quite different if you had stayed in one of our Superior rooms for example. Maybe next time!

For what regards the bed, we’re sorry that it wasn’t to your liking. Since each one of us is different, you can understand that it is rather difficult to satisfy every single guest’s bedding preferences, and unfortunately, being a fairly small Hotel, we don’t have the luxury of being able to keep different types of mattresses in stock and swap them according to our guests’ requests. Again, we’re very sorry about your inconvenience.

All in all, we’d like to thank you again for your stay and hope that you will be back to Florence one day, we will be more than glad to have you as our guest again!

Best regards,
Luca – Hotel Globus

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Hotel Globus was completely renovated in June 2016. The new reception area, located on the street level of Via Sant'Antonino, is now connected to all rooms thanks to our new elevator. The new breakfast area overlooks a small courtyard with a nice vertical garden. Our staff is a mixture of all ages, languages, cultures and countries, always smiling and willing to offer you tips on places to visit, restaurants to try. They're always there for you. For what regards our location, it is definitely one of the key features of Globus. The proximity to all the Santa Maria Novella train station and all main attractions, including the Duomo, both major museums (Uffizi and Accademia Galleries) or Ponte Vecchio, among others, makes it very easy to plan even the busiest day without the need to lose time getting from the hotel to your desired location. What makes our neighbourhood special though is definitely the Mercato Centrale, located just around the corner from here. In the morning, that is where you want to go if you're planning to buy some food to take back home, or simply want to try the famous Tuscan specialties, "trippa" and "lampredotto". Where this place shines though is the 1st floor, open from 10am until midnight. It's a big, modern open space with many restaurants, serving a variety of really delicious food.
