Hotel Berna
Ranked #129 of 659 Florence B&B and Inns
Reviewed October 29, 2013

This bed and breakfast hotel is in a very old building, it's charming, it has a balcony and the staff are extremely helpful. However the rooms are very old and done in an antique style. If you are looking for something modern with nice modern facilities you might consider looking elsewhere. The bathroom shower drains to the floor making a mess. There isn't a place to put your toiletries and it's just a little difficult to manage. They have a small breakfast room full of lots of furniture and again, it's hard to manage around all of it. The best thing about this hotel would be the location and the staff. It is extremely close to the train station and close to major sites around the city and I would add, close to some great restaurants!

The hotel Berna, is located in a old florentine building, as the 9 rooms.
We try to give all the comfort and services to our guests every time.

The tourists usually decide to stay with us because they feel at home, with a lovely breakfast room, with our standard rooms, etc...and important for us is welcoming you in a our city.

Many thanks to all of you for your time spent to write us somethings.

Arrived directly from Thailand via Malpensa and train directly to Florence and we were exhausted. We found the hotel quite easily as it near the train station. We arrived at the hotel to be greeted by "what room, you have a reservation?" and immediately who we came to know as Francesca burst out laughing. She settled us in immediately into a very comfortable room with a big bathroom and a wonderful powerful shower.

Good breakfast, great staff, great location, great value and great restaurant recommendations.

Nice mix of guests that we met in the breakfast room and would say most are upper middle class.

We spent 3 nights here and the hotel fits the mood for a great trip to Florence!

One of our more favorite hotel stays!

I originally booked to stayed 2 nights at Affittacamere Alba hotel but they did have enough room and moved me into Hotel Berna for the 1st night, which I thought it was a downgrade. The 2nd night they moved us to a much better Hotel, Cosimo de Medici, which it was a plus upgrade, it compensated the first night. They have several hotels. The lift is very small, you can barely fit two with luggage. Its very well located, just 2 blocks away from the train station. The room they give us was ok. The toilet was in the same place as the shower, so when you showered all the toilet and sink gets wet. The room had a safe, which was not very safe because I could easily pick it up and take it away. For some weird reason a desktop computer was in the room and it was left on. I just unplugged it. Has AC and good wifi. The best thing about the hotel is the staff. The ladies in the front desk are so welcoming, helpful and very friendly. The breakfast room its very cozy and the breakfast itself its ok.

We are happy you enjoied our serivecs, and in the meantime, we are sorry for the inconveninece.
Your reservation was at the last minute, in the B&B Alba, and we tried to do all our best to give a superior accomodation, as Hotel Berna ** .- Cosimo dei medici ***.

The hotel Berna is a particular florentine style, some people like it other does not like it...this is a particular and persnal liking.

We hope anyway to see you again in the future.

Many thank's

The hotel is very near to the train station and it has been walking distance to major attractions.
The lady at the help desk is very nice and helpful. The hotel is clean and the breakfast is fine. Only that the lift is a bit small and we need to go upstairs separately. Overall, the value is great for its price.

We have stayed at the hotel a couple of weeks ago. Whilst the property may lack the swimming or gym room of a five star, it is amply made up by the superb services: friendly and informative staffs; kettle in the room; and even tooth brush and slippers! And that is for a supposedly budget hotel, which is unmatched by some so-called four star(and far more expensive) hotels in the city. I wouldn't hesitate for a moment to recommend this hotel to anyone. Oh, btw, the location is superb, well within a few minutes walk from the train and bus station.

Great location- short walk from Duomo, Ponte Vecchio, Academia, Leather Market, Uffizi, great restaurants, and shopping. Staff welcoming and helpful, clean rooms and decent breakfast spread. (Actually the coffee we had at breakfast was probably the best we had during our 9 days in Italy). Balcony overlooks all the exciting city activity and hubbub around the train station which is just across the street. Would definitely recommend staying here.

We were so happy the hotel is few steps away from the train station! Very convenient for travelers like us whose only staying for few days. Like the rest of our bookings, we carefully read the trip advisor reviews and were very helpful. True enough, Hotel Berna is a good value for money. Great Service, great selection of breakfast!, close to termini and clean room and bathroom. They even helped us book the 2 museums to avoid queuing up as we couldnt figure out the museum numbers. The life is very small but this is normal in Europe. The hotel is located at the 3F of the building but the sign is big enough for you to notice it. We really enjoyed the breakfast. Just one wish, if they can provide a king sized comforters/ blankets to match the bed (2 single beds attached together which we didnt mind). We are so thankful to the 2 ladies in front office. Very helpful.
