My husband booked us a surprise trip to Florence and chose Hotel degli Orafi to spend a romantic long weekend. I can only say that he chose right!
We had a junior suite overlooking Ponte Vecchio and the river Arno, with a confortable king-size bed, a “secretaire” -desk, a sitting area and a large, marble - built bathroom. The breakfast room was truly impressive: we enjoyed our morning cappuccino (and the rest of fresh italian delicacies) gazing the Arno, in a large salle decorated with ceiling frescos. No need to mention that the location of the hotel is ideal for visiting all of Florence's main attractions.
A special note for the hotel's roof-bar: it is one of the most romantic places to have an evening drink, again thanks to the amazing views as well as the hotel's general ambiance.
Hotel degli Orafi is a perfect choice for those who value the classic while demanding for all modern luxury comforts.
(And after all that, how could I refuse my fiancé’s (now husband's) wedding proposal?)

My husband and I just spent two weeks touring Italy, kicking off our vacation in Florence at the Hotel Degli Orafi. Needless to say, the hotel was wonderful. Not only is the location ideal (Ponte Vecchio and the Uffizzi just steps away = fantastic!), but the amenities and staff are outstanding as well. We arrived quite bleary-eyed on the red eye around 10 a.m. and were able to get into our room by noon. The staff was courteous, the free breakfast was quite extensive, and the rooftop bar had a solid selection of wine cocktails (not to mention a wonderful view of the Duomo).

My only critique is that the bathroom, while clean and modern, did occasionally emanate a smell from the plumbing and the showers did not have much water pressure.

But all in all, I would highly recommend the Orafi for anyone looking for a convenient and affordable hotel right in the heart of Florence.

My wife and I with my daughter and granddaughter spent a pleasant wek here, despite very hot weather in Florence. We had two rooms, ours (403) had splendid views across the Arno of the Ponte Vecchio on the right and as far as San Minato al Monte on the left. Fortunately the air-conditioning was very effective and not too noisy so we were all able to sleep well.

My wife and I had been previous about 5 years ago to this Hotel and little has changed. The reception desk has been moved to the left to leave more room for armchairs and sofas in this area. Otherwise nothing had changed; very pleasant and helpful reception staff and also in the lovely breakfast room where our coffee pot was refilled quickly. The splendid, indeed lavish, buffet breakfast remains to gorge on. So much so that our lunches were never more than a drink of cold beer and olives and ohter nibbles. We filled up at breakfast on scrambled eggs and bacon, or for variety smoked salmon and scarmbled eggs or escaped the scarmbled eggs and had a plate of charcuterie - tuscan suasages, cold ham or Parma Ham with a selection of cheeses. I put weight on, not unsurprisingly during our week in Florence

Definitely a hotel to return to yet again as so conveniently situated half way between the Ponte Vecchio and the Uffizi with good restaurants/trattoria close by for an evening meal after a hard day sightseeing.

The one complaint about our visit was not the Hotel's fault but the city fathers who have reorganised the one way system and the pedestrianised areas, producing traffic chaos. The bus route map provided by ATAF bore no relation to the routes the buses were actually taking which made a bus journey into an adventure into the unknown

We stayed at this hotel on 2 occasions during this trip. The hotel has probably the best location in Florence with the Arno at the front, Uffizi on the side, just a few steps to the Ponte Vecchio Bridge, and gorgeous views of the Duomo from the rooftop terrace. Breakfast is lavish with hot foods, fresh fruit, cereals, yogurts and typical European breakfast items. It is served in a beautiful ballroom with gorgeous frescoes on the ceiling and there are two tables that overlook the Arno River. Breakfast is served until 11 a.m. There are quiet sitting areas throughout the hotel. They give you a voucher for a plate of appetizers and a glass of prosecco, beer or nonalcoholic drink at the rooftop lounge. Be sure to check it out - there are unbelievable views! They also provide 2 free waters in your fridge each day. A welcome touch during our 95 degree days. Only drawbacks are hard beds (they will provide a pad upon request) and there is a small charge for internet. Front desk was always helpful and they gave us an upgrade to a suite at no extra charge during our second visit later in the week.

Room Tip: If you have a difficult time sleeping on a hard bed, put in a special request for a pad on top of th...

I stayed here for two nights. First off, you can't beat the location: right on the Arno close to the Ponte Vecchio and the Uffizi galleries. It is about a 20 minute walk from the central train station. The staff were friendly. The hotel itself is very nice with character. The single room was very comfortable with a large marble bathroom and nice furniture. The breakfast is great, good bread and cereal, lots of choices of fruit, yoghurt, bacon, etc. The restaurant/lounge on the top had a terrific view of the dome of the Duomo. Florence is a beautiful city, and the Hotel degli Orafi was a great place to stay. One tip: there are so many great places to visit in Florence, but almost no one visits the Museo Archeologico, even though it houses the best collection of Etruscan artifacts in the world. There was almost no one there: great place to escape the crowds.

Be sure to make clear and confirm the kind of room you want...I asked for a superior room with a view of the river and they gave us a superior room facing the wall of one of the archs of the street in front of our main window....so, we could see nothing at all. Just the wall!!!!
But they changed us for the perfect room immediately, not without some bad humour.
The breakfast: perfect in an astonishing decor. There is also a bar and a very nice varanda on the top of the hotel with an splendid view and very nice personnel. They serve simple but good meals at night if you ask for it.
Bathroom luxous. Our room was spacious with a very beautiful view of the the river and Ponte Vecchio, but a litle noisy eventually.

Room Tip: Be specifc and describe exactly waht you want. Ask them to confirm by email and take it with you. Be...

Our family had a wonderful time together staying at the degli Orafi hotel. My husband and I stayed in the "room with a view" and enjoyed the large patio looking over at the Ponte Vecchio bridge. Very centrally located to the museums, shopping and dining and right on the river. Lovely, comfortable stay. We would love to return.
