A 2 night stay in February 2013

Location;
The hotel was in the main square opposite the cathedral/duomo and within a short walk from the main tourist attractions, so an excellent location for those wanting to be central. It was on the third floor of a large communal building which wasn't clearly sign-posted. It wasn't difficult to find, but it may be worth bearing this in mind.

Room;
A clean and comfortable room which was cleaned daily. There was no TV or safe. The room had lovely views overlooking the square. Due to the location, there was some noise from the square, this didn't bother me at all, but some people may prefer somewhere more quiet.

Bathroom;
A small but clean bathroom. Towels and toiletries were provided. Shower was powerful and there were no issues with hot water.

Breakfast;
Breakfast was provided on a tray in the bedroom. It was basic but plenty sufficient.

Staff;
I met a male and female who worked there who were both very friendly and spoke good english. Unlike a hotel, they are not present 24/7.

Value for money;
I thought it was slightly over-priced, but I didn't mind paying that for somewhere clean and comfortable in a central location.

Note;
I would say this was more of a guesthouse than a hotel. Also, check-in was between 0800 and 1400, however the room was not ready until 1400, so best not to rush!

We stayed 3 nights at Soggiorno Battistero in December 2012 and it was great! Yes there are stairs (68 stairs so if you have trouble with stairs this is not the place for you ) but it is really part of the experience of staying in this great old building. A view of the Duomo from our window, Wow! Breakfast delivered to your room who can complain about that? Hot water, towels, clean room, nice beds and reasonable rates; really all we needed. Kelly and Luca couldnt of been nicer they answered all of our questions and gave advice when we asked for it. Staying there really made it easy to see all the sites in Florence.

I stayed here 2 nights (11/24-11/25/12). Soggiorno Battistero B&B is ideally located. The owners (Kelly and Lucas) are very friendly and trustworthy. I read reviews before staying here...very positive. I had no problem finding this place or with my stay. I read others mention the stairs issue, on 3rd floor, no lift. It did not bother me a bit, but I guess if you are elderly or have physical limitations, this may not be the place for you. The room was very clean, small (what I expected from other reviews; ideal for solo traveler as myself), great view of the Plaza. Breakfast was good, and is delivered to your room on time ( you are asked for preference when you check-in). I did see other rooms that accommodate two people, good size. The price for this room is a good value for the location. If you want to stay at a 3,4, or 5 star hotel, and spend lots of cash, you might want to look else where, this is not that kind of place. Nothing negative for Soggiorno Battistero, they offer a nice clean, safe accommodation for a good price.
Thanks Kelly and Lucas :)

We stayed at the b&b two nights. It is located in the piazza del duomo, about a 5-10 min walk from the Uffizi Gallery and the Accademia. Rooms have a view of the baptistery of the duomo and the square. The rooms themselves are basic, but large and clean.

The owners, who speak fluent English (as well as Italian), were very helpful. They were able to give us directions to some of the non-touristy stores, which had better prices.

Room Tip: The b&b is on the third floor. As we are writing this, an elevator is being installed.

My wife and I stayed there in September of 2011. We really, really enjoyed our time in Florence. This B&B could not be located any better. Our room faced the Baptistry and had just amazing views. The windows were very much sound proof and couldn't hear a thing when closed. If you don't mind the style of a European B&B (no frills), this is the place for you. We loved it.

Kelly was great. She showed us several places to eat that were local and not tourist traps. She even pointed us to a lunch cart in the heart of the old town that served traditional tuscan meals, including a shaved stomach sandwich (sounds gross, but it was similar to a philly cheese steak in texture). It was a great experience away from tourist traps...

When, not if, we go back to Florence we will book here in a heart beat with 0 second guessing.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the Baptistry

My husband and I stayed in Room 1 at Soggiomo Battistero in October, 2012. Although we were a little concerned upon entering the building and seeing the scaffolding for the elevator construction and the number of steps up, the climb was well worth it. Our room, which was very nice, looked out over the Bapistry and the entrance to the Duomo. We enjoyed watching the ebb and flow of the square. One of the perks of being in the center of things is that we could go out in the early morning or evening and visit sites without the crush of the day trippers. One of the criticisms of this place was having breakfast in the room. This was not a problem for us and although the breakfast was fairly basic, a cup of coffee, some juice, an egg, and fresh, warm muffins was all we needed or wanted in the morning. With so many places to have a cappuccino a bit later, who needs a huge breakfast? Kelly and Luca were very friendly and helpful with restaurant recommendations, calling to reserve an early morning taxi to go to the airport, plus just giving the low down on what to see and when. We would definitely stay there again and would highly recommend it others. The location and views were unbeatable!!!!

My daughter and I just came back from a 10 day trip to Umbria including two days in Florence. We booked this hotel at Rick Steves' book recommendation and it did not disappoint! We also got a 5% discount for paying cash which was nice. The location and price cannot be beat! Our view overlooked the baptistry and duomo! They have installed soundproof windows which helped a lot. Kelly and Luca the owners are very nice and helpful. Kelly booked us our reservations for both David/Accademia and the Uffizi which was such a time saver. Luca delivered a lovely little breakfast right to our door. The stairs getting up to the hotel are challenging, but we had minimal luggage. Would definitely stay there again!

Room Tip: Ask to overlook the baptistry and duomo!!!
