Great location. 10 mins walk from main train station, 2 mins from The Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore. On 3th floor but there is a lift. Room was spacious, quiet, comfortable bed, good shower. Staff friendly. Breatfast better than most with fruit and eggs as options but can be busy at weekends and you may have to wait for a table. Will store bags but not 100% secure as in reception area. Most expensive than we paid in other cities but we recommend hotel. Also city tax in florence at €3 each per night.

Good things first: Location, breakfast included, quadruple rooms available, wi-fi, friendly staff, Tami's recommendations for dinner were the best food we had in Italy.
On the down side: small elevator, lobby on third floor, shower was moldy.
Recommended for families or couples on a budget.

This is the exactly the place you want in Florence.

PERFECT location.
Extremely helpful staff in terms of pointing you in the right direction for sights and restaurants.

Good breakfast in the morning.

And clean rooms.

Only criticism - the A/C room unit could pump a bit more cold air. The July air was HOT, but the A/C wasn't cold enough for me, and I like a COLD night's sleep. But this really wasn't a big deal.

I would definitely stay here again!

You can’t beat the location of Hotel Perseo, most of the major sights in Florence are within easy walking distance when you stay here. We found the staff very helpful and friendly. They were very prompt in answering all my emails and made our museum reservations for us. The breakfast was the standard European breakfast (bread and pastries, sliced cheese and meats, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, fruit, cereal, juice) except that they make your hot chocolate or coffee drinks fresh to order. The WiFi worked well for us.

My rating would be a five except for several very small problems, none of which would keep me from staying here again. Driving through the pedestrian only area to get here is unnerving but we made it just fine using our GPS. The hotel provided map was not as clear as we would have liked. The décor is a little tired, basic muted colors and walls that have “suitcase scrapes” on them could use a fresh coat of paint. The water temperature in our shower fluctuated between cool and hot even if you never touched the knob. The beds were on the hard side but that seems to be standard all over Italy. You must insert your key in a slot to get the electricity in the room to work and you must turn in your key to the front desk when you leave. Therefore the small refrigerator in the room is no good during the day… it could work for dinner leftovers that you planned to eat the next morning. Breakfast is a sit down affair and there are only 16 seats available. Therefore if you unlucky enough to arrive after a large group you will have to wait to eat so don’t come to close to the end of serving time! The hotel is on the 4th floor (the ground floor is designated “0”) and the only elevator is slow and holds only two at a time with small suitcases. Again, all minor annoyances.

If your goal is to see the major sites in Florence in a short period of time you will have a hard time finding a better place to stay than Hotel Perseo.

Our group of 5 stayed at Hotel Perseo in July,2011. The location was within easy walking distance of all of the attractions and our rooms were comfortable, clean and large enough. Laura, at the front desk, responded to my email inquiries regarding day trips and set us up with Jonathon for a trip to Pisa, Lucca and a winery. Laura recommended a very good restuarant, La Decima Musa, for a special occasion dinner. She also made calls to secure tickets to the Uffizi and Accademia Galleries. You cannot go wrong with this hotel!

We were in Florence in the latter part of June 2011. Stayed three nights in the Hotel Perseo . We arrive in Florence by car, dropped our car off and walk to the hotel . It was easy to find as not only did we have the street address and a map but also knew that it was steps away from the amazing Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore( Duomo) .
Upon arriving at hotel entrance you have to take yourself to the third floor either by elevator or stairs . On the 3rd floor is the reception and we were greeted by Louise , one of the owners . She was relaxed , friendly , helpful and welcoming .I asked her advise on the best place to run and she showed me on a map the most beautiful park a couple of kilometers away that is tree filled , next to the river, full of other runners , cyclist . We went to our double room and found it to be lovely . It was a good size , tastefully decorated , nice bathroom , plenty of closet space , had a window with a good view ,and it was quiet and clean . The whole hotel is spotlessly clean at all times everywhere . Because the hotel starts on the third floor and is off the street one will not have any issues with street noise . Besides the location seems to be a low vehicle zone . Great location . Really amazing .We were settling in our room and after a while we found we had a small issue .Too minor to even really explain . It is so small and something that can be remedied but it did require us to vacate the room in order for it to be resolved . My husband went downstairs and explained the situation to Laura the manager on duty at the time . He said she quickly went into action. Talked over the issue with the others and after about 15 minutes move us into another room . I own a hotel in New Zealand and what Laura did and how quickly she executed the solution was commendable . We were impress . She is great . Not only did she moves us into another room but we were upgraded into a larger room with the best views in town . Views of the Duomo. I think it is room # 417 ???I was so happy that I kissed Laura on both cheeks and thanked her .She was so professional about the whole thing . We found out later during our stay that the minor issue had already been resolved and the room was rent ready . They did not waste any time and resolved the minor issue right away ! The hotel is well maintained and you can see they take very seriously the upkeep . It shows . It is immaculate .Everything works well . The shower has good pressure , the air conditioning is quiet, the windows open for fresh air , the bed linen is fresh. The next morning we went into the breakfast room to enjoy our lovely inclusive breakfast . The coffee was good , there was fresh fruit , cereal , yogurt , meat & cheese, bread , condiments everything you could want . It was lovely . The breakfast room is cozy so it was fun to talk with other guest . Everyone in the breakfast room was happy and chatting away . It was almost a festive atmosphere .Obviously they too were enjoying their stay . The lady serving the coffee and clearing the tables kept the place clean and tidy . This is a well run operation . Louise was in the breakfast room looking after people . She is a hands-on owner that genuinely cares that her clients and staff are well looked after . Oh I forgot to mention that we had a great sleep in our comfortable bed , in our quite room . Nice linen , nice decor . Really good . The following morning in the breakfast room Laura was in there helping out . While she floated in and out of the breakfast room she was quietly singing . It really struck me how relaxed and warm the atmosphere is in this hotel . We were three weeks in Europe , France and Italy , and hands down the atmosphere in this hotel was the most welcoming ; warm and authentically relaxed yet at the same time efficient and professional . They really have struck the perfect balance .During our stay we met Giacinto , Louise's’ husband and he was really lovely too . We also met a young man that worked the night shift . Did not get his name but he too was friendly and helpful. He made us a tray of tea one night for our room . Nothing was too hard for this staff . So as a hotelier who has been working in hospitality for over 25 years I can guarantee that this hotel will not disappoint . On top of everything I have to mentioned it is also extremely good value . Value without compromising comfort or service . Hotel Perseo has everything going for it; comfortable beds and rooms , quiet , clean , well maintained , amazing location near all the sights and walking distance to the train station , friendly helpful service by people that are charming, hard working and even really funny at times . Love this place .

Room Tip: Ask about the room with Duomo views . Maybe #417??Ask .

The friendly help offered by the staff in reception sets the tone for your stay. The rooms are comfortable, clean and quiet. For the price we paid, we could not fault the quality of anything and in addition, there is free Internet for guests to use in a quiet nook. The only surprise was at the beginning where we got to the address (3 mins taxi drive from the train station) and found a foyer but no hotel! All you need to do, is go up in the lift where Hotel Perseo is clearly signposted. We rate this hotel very highly and we had a stunning stay in Florence as a result of its centrality and the comfort of our stay. We covered all of central Florence on foot from here.

Room Tip: We booked room 302 which is on the end of the corridor with no passing guests. The view is of a cen...
