This family owned and run hotel is a real gem. Paolo, Vanisa, Federico, Isis and Sonia really want, and suceed, to make you to feel welcome. The location - 15 meter from the duomo - means that all the important Florence attractions and Museums are within 10 minutes walking from the hotel. The nearby garage is not cheap but very convenient and if you can get the rooms with the balcony you will enjoy the view of the duomo when you open your eyes in the morning.
Brakfast is excellent. Wi-Fi and Espresso included and the cakes Vanisa bakes are superb.

Room Tip: Try getting a room with Duomo view

I stayed this month 5 days at Duomo Hotel. The location is perfect. Book a room with view on the cathedral, its mandatory. Confortable rooms. Wifi included. Very friendly team at the reception. Rates are acceptable.

Room Tip: Book a room with view on the cathedral.

I stayed here for 1 night. The room was very small but clean and the staff was very friendly. The only thing that was bothering me a bit was the quality of the doors of the rooms. They fell into the lock VERY loudly which was a bit disturbing at night and in the morning. Unfortunately after trying to close the door of my room quietly (to at least don't disturb the other guests) it was not possible as there is some mechanism built in which makes it impossible.
All in all it was a very nice stay and I would recommend it!

Perfection. Next to the busy Duomo yet we never heard a noise with the window closed which was great for our 2 year old at night. The breakfasts are spot on. Simple but ample enough for the three of us. The rooms are fine. We managed to store away 2 large suitcases. A child car seat, 3 small cases and a buggy easily in the room! It will be a real shame when we move on tomorrow. Thank you,

Those named above are the incredibly efficient, welcoming, and helpful staff that will enable you to have a superb stay at this hotel and overall in Florence!(There are other staff too) Let me keep it simple, The best things are:-
1. The location is SUPERB! You can get to everywhere so easily, for example to see Michelangelo's 'David' is quite literally around the corner, you will be there in 7 minutes! The staff reserved tickets for me which was brilliant because I bypassed the ridiculously long queue and was ushered in at my designated time.
2. The rooms are very clean and modern.
3. My room had a balcony which was a nice addition to the room
4. Don't be put off with the hotel being on the 4th floor - you will be taken up in a gorgeous lift with character!
5.The breakfast is varied and will set you right for your busy day. The woman who prepares and organises it always has a smile and makes such an effort with giving you whatever coffee/tea you wish.

The not so good things...
NONE! ...Just book it, however, as mentioned in other reviews, worth noting if you are a light sleeper it would be a good idea to take a set of ear plugs. The bells of the Cathedral ring from around 7am and during the course of day, in case you want to take an afternoon nap!

I would certainly recommend this hotel. Thanks again guys, Karen x

I chose Hotel Duomo based on Trip Advisor reviews. It certainly matched my expectations. The 2 person lift is a gem - but not for the claustrophobic - bettert than walking 4 storeys to reception. I had a single room with a balcony directly overlooking the Duomo. Having read previous reviews i had brought earplugs & I suggest if you are a light sleeper, you will need them. Only thing that woke me was the massive thunderstorm on my last night.
The staff were friendly & helpful, & the room spotless, with everything i needed.
I would definately stay here again & recommend it to anyone.

1)Location very close to Duomo cathedral which is good, but a good walk from train station especially when carrying bags which is not so good , on uneven streets with heavy pedestrian traffic. The hotel itself occupies the top 3 floors of a 4or 5 storey building
2) Reception very friendly ,helpful and always present
3) Room (27). Large but poorly sound insulated from rest of hotel and street. Bathroom large but shower cubicle very small , be warned. Room was clean.
4) Bed is large but has very little give , same could be said for the pillows.
5) Breakfast one of the most extensive breakfast choices any where i've stayed. Also a nice touch are doors to a roof terrace where you can have your breakfast or pop out for a smoke which is very convenient.
6) Air conditioning is adequate but have a feeling the control panel by door is in no way connected to the a/c function
7) wifi is very good and works anywhere with good reception

Would I recommend this hotel? Hmmm. The complaints are mainly structural rather than staff based. I have to have a yardstick for measure before outright condemning this hotel, but I haven't been to Florence before . It may well be the case that if I'd stayed at several others the Hotel Duomo would rank much more highly. Hence you decide.
