You cannot see much as the statue is currently being renovated.
But take a walk around the Piazza and don't miss the various statues on the other side of the museum.

Situated at one end of the Palazzo Vecchio, this is an impressive monument. It is not possible to view it in its full glory at present as there are renovation works taking place and it is part covered by scaffolding

You can pretty well ignore this fountain since it is under construction and unlikely to be finished until 2018. During this time, it's surrounded by a cage, and often the statue is covered in scaffolding.

It was never liked by Florentines (who made fun of the statue of Nepture, "the big white thing", centuries ago) and now, with the restoration underway, you might as well just ignore it.

This is a truly beautiful work of art. I stoll and looked at this for ages and kept seeing more and more of the sculptures.

As of June 2017 it's under extensive renovation and hard to see. However, it's on Piazza Signoria and so it's one of the main attractions in Florence, so a must visit. Who knows how long the rennovations will take. Nothing is quick in Italy :)
