“Nice square”
Reviewed June 7, 2014

One of the biggest square in the old town.It takes its name from the beautiful Basilica of Santa Croce that overlooks the square.Nice old buildings on its sides.
At walking distance are another two wonderful squares,Piazza della Signoria and Piazza del Duomo.

“Great to hang about and photos”
Reviewed May 20, 2014

Not as busy as others but so much more elegant and stuffed with things to do nearby.

A lot of shops selling all sorts of wonderful items and food nearby, it's easy to get lost. The square itself is fully character and it can be busy as you make it to be.

I would prefer to sit by one of the cafés and watch the world go by, timeless...

“Wide square, its central part was like a construction site”
Reviewed May 15, 2014

A nice square with opportunity to have a sit on one of the benches and watch passers-by.
Note the numerous people trying to sell you one and the same prints of paintings. Maybe a bargain, but not a real art, so you can try and skip them. Sometimes too intrusive, always on their watch for organized groups. At one point I felt we were encircled by them. OK, it's their way of earning their living - much better than stealing, but I often find their manner irritating.
You can see some real artists there though - most of them were in a process of painting new pieces, or you can choose from the many exhibited paintings.
Oh, for the lovers of postcards - there's a postal box in the square - just look around and search for the red Poste Italiane box. The souvenir shop nearby offers stamps for postage.

Something I didn't like but whatever, that was the luck of the choice of time to go there - most of the central part of the square was filled with some equipment, as if there was going to a concert or something, or perhaps construction/restoration works going on? We never understood.

“Awesome!”

Beautiful square with plenty of roses and spectacular views of the Santa Croce and the surroundings. It's worth going there to relax and to take photos.

“Pleasant”
Reviewed April 27, 2014

A reasonable walk from the Ponte Vecchio through narrow streets to another lively Piazza and beautiful Basilica. Did not venture inside the Basilica but the Piazza is worth a visit.
