We stopped here to have a bit of lunch - there are shop, leather and shoes and gellato all around a Little bakery and a couple of restaurants it's hot hot in the mid-day - no shade.

“Great square in the heart of Florence.”
Reviewed December 3, 2013

Piazza Santa Croce is a beautiful square in the middle of Florence: with the beautiful façade of the church that dominate it!
The Square is also very important in the history of Florence and were the Calcio Storico happen once a year...again the square and church are one of the wonder of Florence that just appear when you walk the city.

“A low-key large Piazza I would suggest you not miss.”
Reviewed November 10, 2013

The Piazza Santa Croce is the piazza next to the Church of Santa Croce the burial place of Michaelangelo and Madechii. This was our favorite church and our favorite neighborhood suggested by our guide for calzones, pizzas, etc., little holes in the wall. We had a lovely afternoon our last trip in May and decided to sit at a table on the street and have a refreshing glass of wine and teas and do some people watching and enjoying our little family. It is a large, extremely low- key piazza to sit, walk through minor stores, eat and see history at its finest.

“So lovely”
Reviewed October 19, 2013

This piazza, unlike many others in Florence due to the compact nature of the city, finally gives you some much needed space and perspective to enjoy the history and surroundings of the square. A nice, relaxed place to while away some time, do some people watching, soak up the atmosphere and listen to some amazing street musicians playing traditional Italian music.

“Nice experience”
Reviewed September 25, 2013

With so many piazzas in Florence it is difficult to differentiate between ratings. Piazza Santa Croce had fear tourists which made pictures easier. The church is beautiful and there are booths selling tourists items. There are a few restaurants and shops that surround the piazza. Worth the visit.
