“Best view of Florence and the Duomo is from the Campanile”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2013

If you go on the right time in my case before noon hour you can hear all the bells ringing The exterior is the same spectacular as the Santa Maria di Fiori It is very many steps to climb over 400 but not as many as the Duomo however once at the top the view is more interesting than from the Duomo Unlike me bring your camera as on a right day you can get beautiful view of the Duome and Florence rooftops Take you time you have a few stops before you get to the top It is a shame the guards cannot catch those who are making graffitis is such World Heritage site.

“Didn't feel the need to go to the top”

Was really fascinating to look at but I didn't feel the need to go to the top. Amazing marble work and just a beautiful work of art

“The view is worth the many many steps to the top!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2013 via mobile

6 euro gets you the best view in Florence. Plus the fee goes to the most beautiful church in the world. That is my opinion after seeing St Peters Vatican, Notre Dame de Paris, Notre Dame de Strasbourg, Sacre Couer, St Marks Venice, and Duomo of Pisa. The exterior of the church is beautiful green and pink marble.

“Giotto's Bell Tower--A MUST SEE!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 14, 2013

It is magnificent, as well as the Giotto itself. Climb the stairs for an extra small charge--no hurry, take your time, grueling, but you definitely WILL NOT regret it!!! (smiling)

“Completed in 1359”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 13, 2013

Many European churches were constructed over the course of hundreds of years - many still remain unfinished. The church of Santa Maria del Fiore is one of these constructions that took many years. The tower was designed by Giotto and was begun in 1334. Finished 22 years after he died, the Campanile was finished in 1359 and rises to a height of 276 feet. Putting this into perspective, remember that the dome wasn't finished until 1463, over a hundred years later. You can climb to the top of this tower and the views from the summit are spectacular...So are the waiting lines to enter the tower.

I particularly love the combination of white, pink, and green Tuscan marble used for the exterior decoration. The simplicity of design and geometry of decoration make this monument one of the finest sights in Florence. The tower can be seen from all over the city. Enjoy.
