Why no one mentions this beautiful synagogue is beyond me. Its not in any guide books or mentioned on the tourist maps. I could see the gorgeous patina copper dome from my hotel and had to know what it was. Moorish influenced architecture and beautifully appointed. Terrific museum upstairs. Be prepared to go through a metal detector and remember its closed for services on Saturday. I am not Jewish, or even religious for that matter, but this historic site is not to be missed.
