Owner description: This 19th century piazza has undoubtedly the best panoramic view of Florence. The square is decorated with copies of Michelangelo's sculptures, but it's the view people come here to see.

“the view”

Not sure you need to spend a lot of time in the piazzale itself, because there's not much there besides the parking lot, but the view is totally worth it. You can get a panoramic view of pretty much the whole city, the river, the domes, etc. When we were there it was raining (pouring) on and off, but when it was raining the city was beautiful and when it was sunny the whole vista was spectacular. Worth the climb up. The gelateria up top is pretty tasty, too, and there's the chapel at the top of the hill that's worth seeing.

“incredible experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 26, 2013

If you go to Florence this is a MUST! We walked from the Ponte Vecchio up to Piazzale Michelangelo (it's a bit of a hike with uphill stretches), but the view at the top is BEAUTIFUL. We went right before sunset and were able to see the transition from day to night overlooking the city of Florence. It was such an incredible experience

“Great views over Florence, especially at sunset”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 26, 2013

Despite it being very busy with tourists, Piazzale Michelangelo has some of the best views over Florence.
The walk up the steps can be quite a challenge, take either bus no.12 or 13 that stop at Piazzale.
Very popular with photographers taking shots of the Ponte Vecchio. It is especially beautiful there when the sun is going down colouring the sky, reflecting in the river and giving that special glow to this beautiful city.

“A great place for the view of Florence”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 25, 2013

It took 30-35 minutes walk (from Uffizi Gallery) along the river Arno to reach this point. At the end there was a steep climb, but when we reached there, the effort was quite rewarding. Though the square is like any other tourist spot, with shops selling trinkets and throngs of people, but the view of the city from this point was simply breathtaking. As we had gone towards late evening, the city was glowing in the orange color with all its majesty. The duomo dome, signora tower, the bridges across the river, the hills on the horizon and so on. It was an amazing site. The piazza also has a statue (replica) of 'David'. It was an amazing experience and worth visiting again and again to see the city of Florence in its true glory.

“Best view of florence”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 25, 2013 via mobile

I went up to Piazzale Michelangelo almost everyday during my six month stay in Flo, and it never seemed to disappoint. The walk is an intense, uphill trek, but absolutely worth every single panting breath once you reach the top. Great for sunsets with a bottle of vino & friends!!
