Owner description: This 19th century piazza has undoubtedly the best panoramic view of Florence. The square is decorated with copies of Michelangelo's sculptures, but it's the view people come here to see.

“Breathtaking views of Florence!”
Reviewed July 9, 2013

I was told by a friend to definitely go to the Piazza de Michelangelo because of the views and she was definitely right. To see Florence from this vantage point is spectacular!
There are plenty of people around (we came before sunset) and we found some friendly tourists like ourselves to take our picture.
It definitely helps you appreciate the city because when you are in the midst of it visiting museums and churches you get caught up in the history and art, but by seeing it from a distance you get a whole new perspective.

Definitely worth walking over to the Piazzale Michelangelo for the great city views, and checking out the Ponte Vecchio on the way!

“For us, Piazzale Michelangelo is a must”
Reviewed July 9, 2013

Whenever we are in Florence we love to walk over the Arno river and weave our way through the streets and climb the stairs up Viale Galileo to reach the Piazzale. The view from here is fabulous, a photographers delight. After a visit here make your way up to Basilica di San Miniato al Monte, stop for a little while in the gardens.

This is the best view in Florence. Easy walk from anywhere within the old city walls, and stunning panoramic view of Florence.

“Stunning views, its definitely worth a visit.”
Reviewed July 8, 2013

The views from Piazzale Michelangelo are the best of Florence, by far!

You can go there by car (there is a big parking lot), or simply walking. The truth is that is not so simple, because you will have to climb long stairs to reach the Piazzale, but if you can do that, its worth to be done.

If this is your choice, a nice way is crossing the Ponte Vecchio from Piazza della Signoria, turn left to the Street that is near the river, approximately at two blocks from the bridge, there is a diagonal named Via dei Bardi. Take it and walk straight. The Street changes the name to Via San Niccolo. In one moment you will find a bifurcation: take the Street on the right (Via dei Monte alle Croci). Pass the Wall and one block ahead there is a small pedestrian Street eo the left that goes up (Viale Galileo). Breathe deeply and start to climb that Street. At the end, turn to your left and welcome to Piazzale Michelangelo.

Views are really stunning. Enjoy the panorama with the Arno River, Ponte Vecchio and the Santa Maria dei Fiori Cathedral. There is a big David in the middle of the Piazza.

TIP: There are impresive Golden colors during the dusk. Is the best moment for your visit.
