Owner description: This 19th century piazza has undoubtedly the best panoramic view of Florence. The square is decorated with copies of Michelangelo's sculptures, but it's the view people come here to see.

“Best way to see Florence, and it's free”
Reviewed May 10, 2013

We were feeling a bit weary after a long day of walking so decided to cheat and take a taxi up to the piazalle (about €10). We took a bottle of chianti with us and unfortunately by the time we got there it was too busy to find a seat. We ended up standing though, better photos this way anyway, and watched the sunset over Florence, stunning. There is also a cart there that sells some food, beer, wine, and drinks and also a outdoor bar which I think must have the best views in Florence. Would definitely consider this a must do!

I arrived at about 7pm. There were already a lot of tourists waiting in the Piazzale for appreciating sunset.

“Panoramic view”
Reviewed May 9, 2013

The view from the Piazzale is absolutely magnificent! The whole of Florence opens up before you with the Tuscan hills behind. Well worth the trip up the hill on the local bus.

“Best view of the city.”
Reviewed May 9, 2013

Definitely go up to Piazzale Michelangelo, then walk up to the San Miniato church from there. If you walk across the Arno, you can get a bus to take you up, then walk down. The view of the Arno and central Florence is spectacular, and the church is beautiful.

“Worth the climb!”
Reviewed May 9, 2013

This hillside garden is a bit off the beaten track but worth seeing. The spectacular views of Florence from the top are truly awesome, but take time to visit the beautiful rose garden that is about mid-way up the stairs to the top level. Very special!
