Fee: No
Recommended length of visit: <1 hour
Owner description: This 19th century piazza has undoubtedly the best panoramic view of Florence. The square is decorated with copies of Michelangelo's sculptures, but it's the view people come here to see.

toilet wasn't great in the cafe but the prices were great considering the view. Don't miss the sculpture garden just off the steps.

if you don't want to walk there (which is up the hill walk) take bus 12 or 13 from the train station. the stop for the Piazzale is David, but there is no way you will confue it with anything else as everyone else is getting off there too.

While planning my family's visit to Florence I came across images of this attraction/view point.

When we arrived the rain started and it was supposed to continue through the duration of the stay. Luckily the rain stopped briefly, long enough for us to walk from Ponte Vecchio (the famous bridge) to the viewpoint.

My sister, who was studying there, said she had visited the viewpoint but traveled there by bus. She said it took longer than anticipated, and costed to much. We decided to walk it. Was easy, and there are signs posted. Great little shops and wine bars along the way. If you are there with an elderly person, or someone that is physically handicapped you may want to consider the bus/public transportation.

Highly recommend saving the money and enjoying the 10-20 minute stroll. 1/2 of it is on flat ground, the 2nd half is up a gentle slope and some stairs. Very doable! My 4 y/o daughter did it with no problem, as did my pregnant wife (30 weeks).

So do it yourself!! The views are great, and worth the walk.

Take a bus or walk up the hill to reach the Piazzale. It has the second copy of David in its middle. It's a great place to hang and take pictures of Florence.
My tip: try going before sunset so you can take many pictures with different levels of light.
