Owner description: This 19th century piazza has undoubtedly the best panoramic view of Florence. The square is decorated with copies of Michelangelo's sculptures, but it's the view people come here to see.

“Would have been great in warm sunshine!”

Was actually a lovely place, which I would love to visit again as you can park up and see all over Florence. But when we went it was pouring with very heavy rain and I got soaked to the skin!

“Panoramic view of Florence”
Reviewed March 25, 2013

This is the best place to see all of Florence. It is close to the Pitti Palace so do both on the same day. It is high above the city so take a cab up and then walk down. Look for the shortcut down for it won't take you long.

“Best view of Florence”
Reviewed March 23, 2013

Do yourself a favour and take a long walk from Ponte Vecchio up and over the hill adjacent to Piazzale Michelangelo, turning left at the Belvedere fort walls and don past the old city wall. Turning right at the bottom will take you up the steps to the square, from which almost all of Florence can be seen. The views are amazing and the walk is definitely worthwhile.

“Orientation”
Reviewed March 23, 2013

I would recommend a walk up to the Piazza Michelangelo on the other side of the river for a fantastic panorama and orientation to Florence before exploring the attractions of the city. Alternatively, climb the tower of the Palazzo Vecchio for an equally superb view.
