If you want a breathtaking walk, so beautiful its hard to imagine, start anyplace along the Arno River in Florence and walk up to the Piazzale Michelangelo. The walk is an experience in itself as you will wind through a wooded park with beautiful stone steps (not for the physically challenged). When you emerge, you will see the balustraded terrace, originally laid out in 1885. It was planned as a destination for all the Michelangelo sculpture to be displayed, but after initial development of the site, it was (properly) deemed a bad idea to try to get the massive sculptures up the hill. All the sculpture are reproductions, but still lovely.
