Owner description: This 19th century piazza has undoubtedly the best panoramic view of Florence. The square is decorated with copies of Michelangelo's sculptures, but it's the view people come here to see.

Dont miss the best view of the whole of Florence up on the Piazzale Michelangelo. You can walk up the foot paths that go up to it, or drive/ get a bus. We took some bread, salami and cheese from a local market and had a great picnic up there. It shows you just how big Florence actually is.

I usually take my guests to visit Piazzale Michelangelo in the evenings just as the sun goes down - it is just the most beautiful sight overlooking Florence from this platform - however we don't usually sit with the students on the steps unless we are painting - as more mature ladies who enjoy the finer things in life we have taken to going down the steps to the VIP's Bar below and sipping a prosecco as we watch the sun go down over the Ponte Vecchio - the view is not quite so good - but the ambiance is excellent and aperitivi (snacks) come with the drinks - if there are 3 or more of you it is better value to buy the full bottle than 2x3 glasses full!

High up in the Tuscan hills you have a beautiful view of Florence's terrecotta roofs, its bridges, and the Duomo.

Wide open and had several statutes on display of which I had only seen in pictures. Great place to spend some time before heading to one of the museums in the area

Buy a bottle of wine from one of the vendors (or bring it with you) and have some wine on the steps while watching the sun go down over the many bridges over the Arno.
