My husband and I spent 3 nights here mid July. It is a 15-20 minute walk from the train station. On arrival, we were warmly greeted by our hostess Albena, who handed us a map and gave detailed directions and explanations on top sights and restaurants in town, and when to go to them. This was so useful as otherwise I think we would have missed out on Florentine life.

The B&B is very well located. We had a fabulous view of the Duomo from our room, which was spacious, clean and cool. The bathroom was also clean and had a good shower (travellers' essentials!). We didn't need to use public transport at all (apart from our return journey to the train station after 3 days of exploring) and the Duomo, Accademia, Uffizi, Arno river etc are all within easy walking distance. There is a self-service laundry right outside and a grocery store down the road, which was handy.

As other reviews have mentioned, the hosts are fantastic. The breakfasts were hearty and tasty, and the cappuccinos were some of the best we tasted on our whole trip. Albena also had a fabulous habit of bumping into us on the street whenever we were squizzing at our map trying to figure out which road to take to her suggested restaurants! (which were all amazing)

We would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a central, yet quiet, comfortable, safe and friendly B&B.

My wife and I recently spent the last 3 days of our honeymoon in Florence staying with Albena and Walter and for us this was the highlite of our 3 weeks in Italy. A short 10 minute walk from the train station through the street vendor market by the large domo and vola you see the street with the horserider at the end of it. Even with directions it is a little tricky to find it at first as you are expecting a sign of some type but the name is on a small name plate like all the other tenants' names. A big smile and a warm and inviting welcome and you feel like you just came home. Albena gets you settled in and brings lots of refreshing cold water as Florence the end of June was 40 - 42 degrees with humidity! Albena brings out the maps and walks you through where the different places to see are and of course don't forget restaurants and she gives you her favorites as well. We had a choice of rooms and we went with the two beds just for somewhere to throw things. Our room was very clean, comfortable, bright and had a great bathroom with lots of hot water!
My wife wanted to go to the outlet mall and Albena found us the telephone number and called and found out about the bus schedule and the cost without even asking her. We also had a huge problem with some leather coats that we purchased and they had not been delivered and she was very kind and followed up with several phone calls to the leather store and finally yesterday our lovely Italian leather coats arrived in Canada.
We plan on returning to Florence again summer after next and we will definitely be staying with Albena and Walter then as well.
Thank you both for a wonderful stay in Florence.

David & Tammy

My husband and I stayed at Soggiorno Panerai for two nights in early June and really enjoyed it. Our room was huge, spotlessly clean and full of character. The location is a stone's throw from the Duomo (by craning my neck out of our window I could see it!) and the Accademia and it's easy to walk to other sights. Breakfast in the room is a nice touch and Albena's omelettes are yummy. But the thing that sets this place apart is the warmth of the welcome from Walter and Albena. Would recommend.

Albena and Walter are so accomodating. Very helpful with lots of tips for things to do and see in Florence. You could do worse than follow Albena's recommendations in particular. Pugi for a pizza slice...yum. Ristorante Accadamenia, a little exy but excellent food and service, No 7 bus trip to Fiesole for a great view over Florence. The No 13 bus to Michaelangelo Piazza for even better views. We were given the choice of the main residence or the B&B around the corner. We choose the latter and were very happy with the room. Clean, safe, very quiet and only 5 mins walk from the centre of Florence

The B&B was amazing. Initial opinion was unsure but after meeting the owners and absorbing the atmosphere we realized that we were in an amazing place. Although it is in an old building it has everything you could possibly ask for and the owners/managers make it a million times better than any modern hotel. You get to really experience sense of welcoming and culture at Soggiorno Panerai not to mention an amazing breakfast in the morning. I highly recommend staying here and can confidently say I will stay at this B&B when I visit Florence again.

First of all - Albena and Walter are so kind! so helpful! for any question you have, any need, any recommendation for a good restaurant, Albena will sit with you how much time needed and show you everything you want. If you ask for a coffee, you will get it from her with a smile.
The place is beautiful. impressive. the doors, the windows, the high ceiling. you really feel like you live in old Firenze, 600 years ago. Moreover, the place is clean, and unlike other places, they clean it every day (and not only when you check in). you get new towels and sheets every day.
The breakfast is perfect and great, and you definitely save dozens of Euros that you do not have to pay for a local "tratorria"...
To sum up - this place is really great. and for a final sentence: service, service, service.

The reviews are spot on, as that is what we used to make our decision to stay here. We had the big room with three beds which overlooked the street. Immaculatley clean! I can't say enough about the hosts. Albena is such a caring lady for her guests, makes you feel like you're at home. A perfect example of their committment to guests....we broke the handle on the toilet and told Albena about it. Luckily you could still flush the toilet by reaching through the back and pushing the lever. No big deal. The hosts explained that since it was a Sunday they might not be able to get it fixed until the following day. When we came back to our room in the late afternoon the entire commode had been replaced! They just shrugged and said that it was due to be replaced anyway. Now that's looking out for your guests.
Albena prepares eggs fresh every morning if you like. I personally liked the ham and cheese omelet. Great location, just walk down the stairs and out the door, and you're immersed into the Florentine experience!

Room Tip: We didn't have an issue with noise on the streetside room. Take Albena's advice on restaura...
