This hotel was one of our stops for out Topdeck tour. The hotel is very central - it's just a few minutes walk to the Duomo, and Accademia is just across the square. There was a lovely market (food, crafts) in the square outside the hotel while we were there, just fantastic! The hotel is in a beautiful old building, and the rooms have been styled to reflect this. They are full of velvet and draperies, and are a nice change from the really modern decor that you see so often in hotels. The rooms were smaller than some, but still with pleanty of room for the two of us. The bathroom was huge however! Cleanliness was good, wi-fi was available for free in the lobby. Breakfast was a little disappointing, it was a small space, and with very few staff to replenish the food. Overall though, the location and style makes up for that!

Great location.
Porter was very friendly. He lets us know how we can save parking fee (depending on the day of the week and holidays) and gave us some good advice.
Room was lovely, with a beautiful view.
Free wi-fi in the lobby.

Not very varied breakfast.
On the way to the elevator there are several stairs.

Yes, it is very old, but I like that! As in 500 years old. The bathroom was amazing and the windows were floor to ceiling and inspired me to think I was back in the Renaissance myself. The main color is red velvet and each room is VERY different. We had a large group so we go to check out many rooms.
As I write these reviews 5 months later, this is the only hotel I really remember from my trip. There is an big plaza full of gypsies - so yeah. not a place you would want to hang out, but a pretty thing to look at from your window.
VERY close to the Duomo - great walking distance to EVERYTHING. I was at the David museum in minutes.
I can't remember anything else - if you can afford it - go somewhere else, but if it between this place and a chain hotel - try this one!
It also has a dungeon in the waiting room - seriously - the lady behind the desk (who was rude at first, but warmed up to us after awhile) told us during excavations they found the skull and such and decided to keep it and put it on display - with a plexiglass manhole cover to peer down below your feet.
Nice carpets along the hallways, too.

We stayed at Due Fontane for two nights, but we weren't fully satisfied because the rooms are old fashioned and cold. The weather was very rainy and cold ,but the heating system did not work.We asked the manager to fix it ,but they would not help acting as if they did not understand English. The water from the shower would not drain so we had the room flooded with the shower water. The rooms are clean but the blankets are very old and they stink. It is close to the center ,but the environment gets quite spooky at night because there are hundreds of beggars sleeping on the piazza which makes walking and hanging around very dangerous.Breakfast was nice and satisfying.

The hotel is very closed the city center. It is a historical building and the rooms are enough for a couple. The price /benefit rate is accptable. The breakfeast is also very good in comparison the others.
