Hotel Merlini

Nice staff, family owned and very helpful. The bathroom had recently been redone so nice and clean. The room was in dire need of repainting and the air conditioner needed a clean filter. No screen on the window to open it at night to let some air in (mosquitos in Florence are pretty active), only screen was in the bathroom. Very little was needed to make this room nicer. I understand that Florence is a prime location but the price for the room was too expensive given its quality. Over 20 years that I live in Italy and still cannot understand why substandard quality has high costs. Good location, close to the station and historical center. Breakfast area is quite unique with its wood ceiling and panoramic view. They should keep either keep windows open or cool it in the summer so people can sit in there and enjoy it in hours other than breakfast because the room is a gem.

The most amazing stay! Typical Italian family running the show ; mama, papa, and granny!! Old school charm. AMAZING COFFEE!!! Original art is all over this place by artist A Ffresco ! Something haunting and beautiful about everything here. The place is set by a very busy hip and happening road called via Nazionale. Lots of bars restaurants stores and an amazing HUGE leather market. Local beers and wine and fantastic pizza/pasta restorante. I took my mama for her 50th birthday. And it gave her memories she will never forget. Simple. Beautiful. Italiano! Stay here. The price for what you get is AMAZING

This is a family owned hotel, the service was great and they were all very helpful. The owner even carried my bag up the stairs as there is no lift. This Hotel within walking distance of almost everything we wanted to see and is only about 2 1/2 blocks from the SMN train station which is where the airport shuttle dropped us off. The room was spacious and clean and room 11 has wonderful views of old Florence from 2 directions. The breakfast was great and they have Awesome coffee! I will definitely stay here again next visit. I just loved the owner and his family at this hotel they are awesome!

Room Tip: if you are at the SMN train station and are looking across the street at McDonald's and Burger k...

This was the best place we stayed on our entire 2 week honeymoon throughout Italy and Greece! This place was probably the most budget friendly place we stayed in and was ver clean. The owner, Rosario, made this the best stay of our trip. He was so incredibly friendly! Truly felt like a home away from home for us. It was two years ago now and my husband and I still talk about going back just to see Rosario. A very big thank you to him!

This hotel is at the forth floor of a very well preserved building. We had great stay. It is very well located, very close to the Train Station SMN. The rooms and bathrooms were spacious and cleaned every day. Rosario and his family were friendly, efficient and very helpful; they provided with recommendations for good restaurants and leather products traders. It is a treat!

Room Tip: Choose number 11; it is a spacious one with fresco

The hotel is at the top floor, 4th floor if you dont count floor 0. no elevator. Btw each floor is a different hotel. The entrance is very close to the hostel archi Rossi, so just look for their sign as their own sign is quite small.

Yes the owner smoke in their room, every time we leave our room the corridor is smoky, but we never felt any smoke in our room.

Location is good except the no elevator thing, room is clean.
I would recommend if you don't have too much bags.
