“Favorite place in Florence!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 16, 2012

I am about to head back to visit Firenze and will once again stay at the wonderful Albion Hotel! This family run hotel should not be missed if you are looking for the most friendly hoteliers in Florence! Sara and her father Massimo are gracious and welcoming, and you will feel like you are a member of their family immediately. Sara will help you with any reservations for museums, restaurants, or trains...She is unbelievably efficient! The hotel itself is in an old palazzo, and it very quirky! You will love the relaxed breakfasts, with different pastries each morning. It is just a short walk through lovely little streets or along the Arno to get to the historic center. I cannot recommend this hotel with any greater conviction! I am very much looking forward to returning in August!

I had been with a large group traveling to Milan and Florence staying at larger
hotels without much charm. I was able to extend my stay and break away from the group. It was extremely nice to walk into the hotel and be greeted so warmly. It was more like walking into a friend's home rather than checking into a hotel.

Dear Keith,
it was really a pleasure to have you with us!!
I'm very happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay. The Albion is our home as we stay there all the time...It is the best part of our job...to welcome the guests in a friendly way and to discover when they leave that you are saying goodbye to a friend. We hope to see soon again,

We have been staying at the Albion for many years and have always been made to feel like family or at least like special friends. Massimo and his daughter Sara are charming and helpful. They always know the latest goings on in Florence and how to get tickets to anything you might want. You can trust their restaurant recommendations especially if you tell them what you are looking for. They have updated both the interior and exterior of the hotel recently, it has always been clean and comfortable. We will return whenever in Italy.

Room Tip: We like the upstairs rooms, our latest stay was in the blue room, very comfortable

Hotel Albion is a very cozy and welcoming hotel. Sara and her family made our visit relaxing and made us feel right at home. Sara gave us a map when we arrived and told us how to find all of the major attractions and also gave us great recommendations for restaurants. I traveled with my sister and friend and we felt totally safe at Hotel Albion all 4 nights. At times, the hotel seems like it is out of a fairytale... and is clean and well kept. It feels more like a bed and breakfast than a hotel. The bathroom is modern and the shower was nice and hot every day!

The building is old (like most buildings in Florence) and the rooms are simple but have all of the necessities. I would recommend bringing earplugs or requesting a room facing away from the street. It could be quite loud at night, especially on Saturday night.

Breakfast was just okay, but the cappuccino was personally made to order each morning! This hotel was a perfect compliment to our stay in Florence. It was a quick cab ride to the main train station and within walking distance of ALL major sites in Florence.

**If you are looking for a modern hotel that is shiny and new, this may not be the hotel for you, but if you want a clean, safe hotel with a lot of history and character with a caring staff then this is your place.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the street , less noise.

My husband, daughter and I stayed at the Hotel Albion in April and had a wonderful experience. We had stayed at the family's wonderful La Boscarecce in Tuscany fifteen years ago when it first opened and loved it. I had done cooking there, got to know our hostess well, and had an unbelievable experience. When I knew we were coming to Firenze, I wrote to Susanna and got back a lovely personal note. This time the Albion was booked but we were specially invited to stay in an apartment owned by the family. We had a very pleasant breakfast every day in the hotel and although we did not have internet in our apartment were able to use the WIFI/Internet in the hotel lobby level. The Albion is in a very convenient location and all the staff are friendly, helpful, and answer all and any questions. They gave us wonderful suggestions for restaurants to try that are popular with the locals. Any time I return to Firenze I hope to revisit my friends at the Albion.

My wife and I visited the Hotel Albion after spending a day in Florence two years back when staying at the family's other hotel in Tuscany (La Boscarecce). Having met Sarah before at La Boscarecce we knew that if the hotel was of a similar standard we would not be disapointed and we weren't. The hotel is in an excellent position, 15 mins walk from Ponte Vecchio along the bank of the Arno and within easy reach of the main sights. It is 10 mins from the main railway station so getting there from your drop off is easy. There are good quality restaurants and bars within 5 minutes walk which as off the main tourist routes are reasonably priced. Our room was spacious neatly appointed with a nice little bathroom and great shower. The breakfast was plentiful and of a high standard and served in a room adorned with paintings from the family's private collection. Sarah and the staff are very friendly and always accomodating. Sarah has fantastic knowledge of the City and provides great information on the museums and where to go. Florence is a magical city to visit and the Hotel Albion is a perfect family run hotel to use as your base. Would definately recommend it to friends or family

Room Tip: If a light sleeper, avoid rooms overlooking the mini roundabout on Via Il Prato as can be a bit nois...
