We just returne home for Italy. One stop was in Florence for six days where we stayed at the Hotel Balcony. For the money it was a great stay. The room was clean, there was a free breakfast, they had wifi, and the owners were very hospitable. The owners went out of thier way to help us. We purchased wine from them, got directions, and allowed us to go through the check out process the night before we left because we were leaving very early the next morning.
Looking of the balcony at the hotel you can see the Dumo one way and Santa Maria Novella the other. There was an ATM just outside of the hotel door in one direction and a very nice resteraunt right next to the hotel in the other.
We would stay here again if we ever have the chance to make it back to Florence.

The hotel itself is not in the center, but is literally 5 minutes away from the center and the markets.
It is located on a narrow street full of restaurants, and is very convenient as it is only about 10 minutes away from the Santa Maria Novela Train Station.
Overall it was quite cozy, not for a romantic getaway though.
There is a Balcony upstairs where they used to serve food, but which is now used for recreation and relaxation and looking down at the beautiful Florence.
It is recommended if you are on a trip with Friends.

Room Tip: Make sure the room is a bit more central inside the hotel as the main street can be a bit noisy.

The owners of this hotel are so wonderful! My room was on the top floor and there isn't an elevator, but the owner took my suitcase all the way to the top. After several days of rain in Florence, water was seeping into the walls of my room. The owner's son noticed it however and gave me a heater for the room, which met my needs. Breakfast was not very good at this hotel. The rooms are a bit dull. Location is perfect near the train station and Duomo!

The place is good, perfect location, rooms were very clean and breakfast was quite good. The environment was like being in a family and Justino made as feel great, trying to give us advice on what not to miss from Florence and also helping us on everything we needed.

We stayed in a triple for 2 nights, the week after catholic Easter (with my husband and my 11y. old son). Breakfast (included at the price) decent with coffee, milk, juice, tea, yogurt, croissant, bread, variety of jams, honey, cheese, cereal, and fruit compote. The room not luxurius but very comfortable and adequate, facing the terrace, was clean with every day service, little fridge, bathroom very clean with "bidet", glass cabine. The soundproof is not so good but after a fatigue day the sleep is very easy. The neighborhood is very safe and you can see the Duomo from the balcony. It is next to you.
Young Guido and his father (the owners) very helpfull and polite and always there for everything. Hotel balcony is the best location to stay because arriving by train, it is very easy to find it (even if it rains), about 5 min. walking from the station and very close to everything. Extra reason: every day in the morning in front of the station is the bus meeting point of all the travel agencies doing tours in Tuscan region. I strongly suggest to join one and visit San Gimigniano and Siena. Both are impressive. You can ask at the reception.
The check-in was fast and Guido gave us a map and useful guidances for Florence. I had booked directly at the hotel and I think It 's a great value for money (so i give 5 stars). I surely come back at this hotel. Thanks for the pleasant stay. Keep going.
