Really liked this hotel. The owner was so nice, and yes, the cappuccino is wonderful! The room was very clean and comfortable, and the view from the terrace is breathtaking!

Room Tip: Ask for a terrace room!

We stayed at the Villani for 5 nights, and it's the perfect place to stay in Florence: a charming and pleasantly small, family-run hotel almost a stone’s throw from the Duomo. In fact, if you manage to get a room with the stunning view of the Duomo and the Campanile, you can leave your alarm clock at home, as the 7 AM bells will certainly wake you. A very cool way to wake up!

Even apart from being a block away from the Duomo, the hotel is perfectly located. It's probably no more than a 30 minute walk even to the Oltrarno. And the small streets and lanes near the hotel are perfect for aimlessly wandering.

The innkeeper, Erminio, is wonderful. He makes a perfect cappuccino (or two) in the morning and he’s an invaluable resource for Florence information, gossip, etc.

The hotel itself is nothing fancy, so don’t expect the Ritz or the Four Seasons. The rooms are well-kept and very clean, with typically small European bathrooms. And the elevator/lift to the 4th floor is similarly compact! But it’s all very comfortable and comforting.

If you stay there, you must spend time on the roof deck at sunset, preferably with a bottle of wine and hunks of cheese and bread. You’ll feel very special, up on the roof as the light fades and the church bells ring.

A definite highlight of our trip to Italy.

Our favorite things about Hotel Villani were the walking distance from the S. M. N. train station, the location (next to the Duomo), the view, the service (Erminio), and the comfortable room. Best cappucino in the morning from Erminio. He even helped us make reservations for the Uffizi as we had forgotten. We only stayed here two nights, but we would return for sure. Oh and beware, the bell rings early in the morning and is pretty loud considering you are staying right next to it, but it made us smile and reminded us to get up and go explore Firenze. We can sleep in at home! :)

My husband and I stayed here last winter. Florence is one of my favorite cities and this little hotel came highly recommended by friends who frequent Florence. This hotel although "no-frills" is amazing because it is located literally steps from the Duomo and a ton of bars, restaurants and shops. The location is so ideal we will never stay anywhere else when we come to Florence. Don't expect the glitz and glam of a 5-star hotel - - but you don't need that type of hotel room when you are coming to view this beautiful city! We cannot wait to go back.

Amazing views, best terrace in the city, free wifi, SUPER close to Duomo, shops, and restaurants (and nightlife if you're into that :) ). The staff is AWESOME, Erminio is the best cappucino maker in Florence, and he's super helpful if you just ask! On the fourth floor, with an elevator (which is AMAZING for Italy), and right across the street (alley?? roads in Italy are nuts) from the BEST gelato shop in Firenze (even the locals say so). Furnishings may be slightly outdated, but you shouldn't be sitting on your bed staring at the wall anyway. Beds are still comfortable, furnishings are more than adequate, and the bathrooms are clean. Signora tends to open the windows while she cleans (it's gorgeous outside, you can't blame her!) so I'd advise to buy a Vape repellant - they carry the kind that plug into the wall like Glade or something. Mosquitos tend to find their way into your room whether the window is open or not - and they're vicious. Rooms are also outfitted with air conditioning which is super important during the summer!!!! Hotel Villani is the only place I'd stay in Florence.

best hotel experience of my life. the staff was so helpful, personable, and friendly. the views are absolutely incredible and the location is perfect for doing anything in florence (right by the duomo). make sure to ask ermanio (the owner) for a cappuccino in the morning, they are delicious! drinking a bottle of wine on the terrace is also a must at this place.
