The only positive point about this hotel is its location because it is located near Florence main train station as well as some historic and famous buildings. The furniture is outdated but tolerable. The most seriously negative point is that because of old installations and equipment you will probably face terrible problems. We stayed there for two nights and at the first day we could not use warm water to take shower because the installation was out of order and it was really a disaster. Unfortunately the staff just said that "It is not our fault!"

The best thing about the San Giorgio is its location near Florence's main train station, Santa Maria Novella. Our room had mature furniture in the Tuscan rustic style which is not to my taste. Our room overlooked a small unused courtyard but this made it very quiet at night. The bathroom was small with poor fittings, particularly the shower with no dish to put the soap and shampoo in. No English language TV. Breakfast was OK but no fresh fruit, tough rolls and vanilla flavoured croissant. Perhaps a Tuscany speciality but not too my taste. Tables weren't cleared and they have an odd policy with knives. They leave spoons and forks for you to collect but you have to wait for the waiter to bring coffee and your knives. Perhaps its Health & Safety getting in on the act. Short walk to most of the cities sights and restaurants, and very close to the main market which is quite interesting.

Stayed at the San Giorgio 2 nights in September. It is a fine family-owned hotel with excellent friendly/helpful staff. The complimentary breakfast was very nice. We arrove in Firenze via Trenitalia and the location of the hotel was an easy walk with luggage. Our room was very adequate [typical remodeled/updated older Italian building]. Most all the major sites are within an easy walking distance [Michelangelo's "David" & other terrific museum items, Baptistery/Duomo/Campanile Tower, Museum with Ghiberti's golden doors, Piazza della Signoria with it's great sculptures, Ponte Vecchio bridge; even the Michelangelo Piazza across the river is really not too far]. Very pleased with the hotel.

We stayed here for 2 nights & 3 days between 24th & 26th Aug 13. Location of Hotel is very convenient particularly budget travelers - you can walk across from Train station. The pick-up points for local tours is just few yards from the Hotel.
The rooms are small & old with very narrow corridors, flight of steep steps.I wonder whether layout of the Hotel will meet safety norms.
Staff were courteous, Spread of items in Breakfast table is good. Overall OK place for a short stay only for its location advantage.
