“Great location, excellent staff!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 26, 2009

We stayed at Hotel Alessandra during a portion of our honeymoon, and it was by far our favorite accommodation during our trip. Every member of the staff was amazingly generous and very friendly, they even gave us a bottle of champagne when they learned we were on our honeymoon and packed us a picnic breakfast because we had an early flight. You can't find a more convenient location either - steps away from the Arno, Ponte Vecchio, and the Uffizi The quality of the breakfast was top-notch (breakfast in bed!) and the room was simple but very clean and very quiet. If we ever make it back to Florence, we will be staying here!

This Sept. (2009), My sister, brother-in-law, and mother traveled to Italy for my mother's 86th birthday. We had previously stayed at Hotel Alessandro when in Florence and were well aware of the excellent and personal service provided by Anna, Andrea, Monty and the entire staff. However, they really outdid themselves for our stay. It was as if we were returning to long lost cousins!
Since my last trip, I have been diagnosed with celiac disease( a gluten intolerance disease). this means no wheat, among other grains. Hence, no regular pasta, pizza, etc. Italy is the country to go to if one suffers from celiac, as there are many gluten-free products available.
Not only did Andrea go out and and buy me an incredible assortment of breakfast foods, enough so i would have them for the rest of my trip but, Monty suggested a restaurant that specializes in gluten-free foods ([pasta, breads) that we ALL (non-celiacs, included) thought was one of the best (if not the best) meals of our entire trip.

I would heartily recommend any stay at Hotel Alessandro. Aside from the magnificent staff and attention, it is in the best part of town!

Don't be fooled by the hotel's modest street entrance and upper floors location; this establishment is a little gem. It is very spacious inside with superb views over the Arno, and very cosy characterful rooms. Service is excellent, they really take pleasure in greeting and helping their guests to enjoy their stay. It is was very tranquil while we were there, admittedly off-season and you can't get anymore central without camping in the Uffizi. If you want 5 star fripperies go elsewhere if you want the best in central Florence come here. Thanks guys, highly recommended.

We wanted a hotel close to the Arno, and this was just around the corner from the Arno and the Ponte Vecchio, and it also was very close to the Uffizi and other museums. Because we were so close to the Arno, we took sunrise & sunset walks along the river for beautiful views and spectacular photos--it was just gorgeous. We never would have taken those walks if we were not right there. A perfect location! And a perfect hotel! We were four women and had two rooms. We paid a little more and got "rooms with a view" of the Arno. Both were beautifully decorated, and one was an incredible suite. The small extra price was definitely worth the upgrade for both rooms. We were impressed and pleased. The Hotel was very beautifully decorated and had a very nice breakfast. Everyone was wonderful, including owner Andrea, Monte at night, and the rest of the crew, with all doing their best to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. You could tell that they loved this hotel and took pride in keeping it up and making it a great experience for the guests. They also gave us a couple of excellent restaurant recommendations in the neighborhood, and Andrea kindly made reservations for us at the Uffizi and the Academy (to see Michelangelo's David), so we didn't have to wait in those long lines. At the hotel you have to climb a flight of steps before you get to the small elevator, but it worked out fine for all of us, and it definitely was worth it, as the hotel is on the second floor of a palace built in 1507! All four of us loved this hotel and would highly recommend it for its location, its charm, and its wonderful staff. We recommend that you get a room with a view of the Arno if you can, but even if you don't, we think you'll love this hotel as much as we did. We'll definitely stay there again if we ever are lucky enough to return to Florence.

Hotel Alessandra is located in the absolut center of Florence - just around the corner from ponte vecchio. The atmosphere is very relaxed, it is a family-owned hotel, what you can feel in every moment. The people are very nice and helpful.

We had a great time in Florence and can recommend the hotel to both - couples and families.

We had a great experience at the Hotel Alessandra in Florence. The hotel is centrally located and walking distance to all the major tourist sites. The staff at the hotel (Andrea and Monty) are exceptional and will help you navigate around town and provide excellent restaurant suggestions. We will definitely stay here again when in Florence.

My wife and I stayed at Hotel Alessandra for 2 days/nights and would definitely stay there again. The room was very large, clean, had air conditioning, and was in a great location. It’s about a 5-7 minute walk to the Ponte Vecchio and 7-10 to the Duomo. The staff was very nice and internet access is very cheap. Breakfast in the morning is your typical spread: cereal, pasties, etc. It's a good central point for walking around the main attractions in Florence.

We thoroughly enjoyed Florence and would stay at the Hotel Alessandra again!

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Our family run hotel is right in the heart of Florence old town - near to the Uffizi Gallery and Ponte Vecchio. Without doubt, Hotel Alessandra is one of the most centrally located hotels in Florence. In this privileged position, Hotel Alessandra offers a home away from home, with our friendly team and extensive knowledge of the local area. The hotel entrance is situated on the second floor of the building. You can reach the reception floor using the lift, small but working fine (in the 1400s buildings hadn't been designed with this in mind!) But please note that there are around 30 steps from the entrance on the street level to the departure of the lift. We very much look forward to seeing you! Andrea and Anna ... more   less
