“Believe the reviews! Great place to stay!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 7, 2013

The location is ideal for walking around Florence! Just please do not try to drive there! (the hotel is located in a large central area that is a pedestrian way and thus driving, parking, etc is quite difficult; definitely try to drop off your rental car before coming to the hotel but if you are not able then the staff is very willing to help you park for the night and give you directions to return the car)

All of the staff were amazingly helpful and knowledgeable! They quickly learn who you are and are able to provide excellent recommendations. The included breakfast has a great variety of foods and is the perfect start to each day - cappuccino with a smile!

We didn't mind the stairs as we figured it was a good workout after all our eating and drinking! And of course there is the elevator if needed.

Definitely a place we will stay again upon returning to Florence!

You said it right - please do not bring a car! Or if you do, once parked, leave it there for the duration. And exactly right about the stairs - what a great free workout! Thank you for choosing Hotel Alessandra.

My boyfriend and I were visiting Rome and went up to Florence for a one day/overnight trip. Based on other reviews, we decided this two star hotel would be just what we needed for a simple night. It turned out to be that plus so so much more. We were greeted by the MOST FRIENDLY man, although I never got his name. He introduced us to the city, gave us a map, joked and laughed with us, ran and got the air conditioner remote, and helped us with our luggage. The room was quite large and we felt incredibly comfortable. Breakfast was great as well. Overall, for our one night stay, we would have rated this hotel 4 or 5 stars, which happened to be much better than our 5 star hotel in Rome that we came back to the next evening. Please if you go to florence, stay here!!!!!!

Aw shucks! We love your review and are most grateful - but we are two star. Really two star! Our rooms and bathrooms are two star. Our stairs and lift are two star. Our breakfast is two star. Our service is 22 star! Did we really say that?! Ooops - apparently so.

We recently spent 4 nights at this charming family-owned hotel. Breakfast every morning served in a lovely dinning room. Expresso, cappacino or american coffee among other delicious breakfast items. Our suite was comfortable, and roomy. Very clean hotel. Location was excellent: near Ponte Vechio, Uffizi, Pitti Palace, etc. All within walking distance. The staff were more than helpful and very pleasant. We are hoping to return next year!

This hotel and it's staff were great! The location is perfect and you can walk everywhere. Thank you to Andrea for his help prior to our arrival and during our stay. After a few days I felt like I was at home! Warm greetings in the morning and when we would arrive back at the end of day, Monti was there with a big smile asking about our day! (Monti - everyone LOVES my jacket! Thanks for your help!) The breakfast was good and the rooms and bathrooms were very nice. If our travels bring us to Florence again, we will stay here. Thank you again for a wonderful stay in your wonderful city.

Based on other reviews, i booked this hotel for my niece and i for a 3 day visit and i was not disappointed.
The hotel is in a great location for all the sightseeing of Florence you want to do.
Yes, there are stairs to navigate with luggage. You go up one flight and then there is a small elevator to take you up to where the hotel and reception is located. Stairs are to be expected in Italy, so pack lightly or build your muscles up.
All the staff are exceptionally friendly and very helpful.
The twin room we had was beautiful with a fantastic view. The room and bathroom were so spacious and elegantly decorated.
Everything was immaculately clean and very comfortable.
The breakfast area is small but perfectly adequate and there is a great selection to set you up for the day ahead. Have a capuccino with a smiley face.... perfect.
You are made to feel very welcome.
I would definately stop here again for my next visit to Florence.

Room Tip: Just remember, there are a few stairs to navigate, but this is to be expected.

Hotel Alessandra is located almost right in the middle of town, good walking distance to every major attractions, shopping districts and restaurants.

The staff were the highlight of the hotel, very professional whilst still having a good laugh along the way.

The first night I didn't sleep well due to mosquitoes in the room. I thought this was odd but after doing some research it seems to be a common problem in Florence region. The next day I asked the staff about it and they gave me a powered mosquitoe repellant and I didn't have any further trouble. That staff are helpful so just ask if you have a problem.

New bathrooms that are nice, big shower and basins.
Sleeping area is older but in a charming way.
Beds are okay but wasn't a fan of the pillows, but they did the job.
Breakfast was good, was nice to have toasted bread as I'd been eating nothing but croissants for the 2 weeks.

Room Tip: If you absolutely hate stars, then request a room on the bottom floor. There are still a few to get...

Yes, Florence, and Italy in general does suffer mozzies in the summer, even in the cities. But of course we will help out anyone who is under fire! We are glad that you enjoyed your stay - and your toast!

I found this hotel to be clean, friendly staff and a good serve yourself breakfast. The bed was comfortable. The location was very easy to find even coming off of the water bus late at night. We stayed in the annex, just next door.

Whoops! A case of mistaken identity we feel. We certainly have no water buses coming past our hotel. Our street is only just wide enough for a very small Italian car and wouldn't handle a boat, and of course a boat on dry-land would just look silly. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay (in Venice maybe?) somewhere else. Perhaps next time you would like to come to Florence; we have rather less water here, and we keep it all tidily in one single river - we could even give you a room with a view of the river. But not in an annex - heavens above we don't do annexes! This is Florence and we have standards to maintain! ;-)

Our family run hotel is right in the heart of Florence old town - near to the Uffizi Gallery and Ponte Vecchio. Without doubt, Hotel Alessandra is one of the most centrally located hotels in Florence. In this privileged position, Hotel Alessandra offers a home away from home, with our friendly team and extensive knowledge of the local area.
