My spouse and adult children spent four nights at the Alessandra. In our opinion it is in the perfect location! Around the corner from the Arno and the Ponte Vecchio, a dozen blocks to the Duomo and with multiple restaurants in the area, we tried all of them, can't go wrong, pick on and eat! The Hotel did have multiple layers of stairs to climb. I had both of my knees replaced one year ago and had no problem managing the stairs and those times I felt I didn't want to climb, I used the lift. Ask for a room with a view of the Arno, they were large with excellent bathroom facilities the view was to die for, our room was HUGE! Our kids had the same reaction to their rooms, very large, beautiful rooms. Exceptionally clean. Breakfast was wonderful, their dining room attendants were spot on providing cappuccino/espresso, etc. Our only complaint, the mattresses were as hard as bricks. If they could replace the mattresses in the rooms they'd be 5 stars without question. My first foray to Florence, my husbands been their multiple times, as a pilot, he'll be returning to Florence. I'm very happy I chose the Alessandra for our visit as a family!

We are nearly delighted! Everything was almost perfect and that makes us (and our team) very proud. Note taken about mattresses. Our beds are all new (over the last 12 months) and all have orthapedic fittings. We know that a cultural/lifestyle point of view rates Italian mattresses as hard! But we will bear it in mind - thank you!

A hop, skip and jump from the train station, this hotel is guaranteed to please in all areas. Forget about a few steps and the not so big lift, the minute you enter this hotel you can feel a wonderfu ambience. The rooms are really clean and really big, a pleasant surprise in Europe. The hotel is within walking distance of all the 'must see' sites and the shops and surrounded by great restaurants,. Best of all, the staff are really professional, helpful and make you feel like nothing is too much trouble. Andrea and the team are the nicest front of house people that I have ever encountered in a hotel. Best experience of our Italian adventure!

That's the way it should be here at Hotel Alessandra - first impact with those steps and teeny tiny lift are sometimes not the best welcome (but when you get to know them, those stairs and lift become your friends too!), but we are extra-delighted that when you made it through the door our team "swept you away". Our location is pretty unbeatable, but we know that it is really our team that make the difference. Thank you.

We stayed for 8 nights at the end of May in a double room and my daughters and friend stayed in a triple room for 6 nights at the same time. My son is studying the semester in Florence. The hotel is 2 blocks from the Ponte Vecchio and walking distance to all sites. Florence is a smaller city and easy to walk to most locations. There is a store across the small street with hardware, paper goods, some make up if you forget a few items.

The rooms are clean and large with storage for clothes, a tv and an extra sitting chair. There is free wifi, free phone call to USA and a computer room (if you do not bring your own) with a large screen tv. The bathrooms have large bath towels that we loved (some places do not have such large towels).

You need to walk up 1 flight to the lift and another 2 flights to the Hotel lobby. We mostly walked but sometimes took the lift. The staff is friendly and informative. There are free area maps at the front desk. The evening front desk person Monti was great! My girls wanted to take him home!!!

The beds are large and extremely comfortable along with generous pillows.

The free breakfast buffet from 6:30 am to 9:30 am every morning was great. There are pastries, 2 homemade cakes (lemon and chocolate chip were delicious and moist!!), yogurt, cereals, hard boiled eggs, toast, breads, ham, cheese etc along with teas, coffee, hot chocolate and they make espresso and the best smiley face cappuccino each morning!!
I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends. If you book online with them you get a discount. They have a facebook page that shows all the constant improvements they are doing. This family run place is the perfect place to stay!

Great location, comfortable and large room, and staff who would not be out of place working in any of the great hotels of the world - friendly, helpful and cheerful. As others have pointed out, not a modern off-the-shelf establishment - no bar/lounge, evening restaurant, and it has stairs - but it felt as if you were staying in Florence and not any old city anywhere in the world.

Only reason I have marked down is th absence of tea/coffee making facilities - nice when there is no lounge or bar.

I traveled to four cities throughout Italy and this, I must say, was my favorite hotel. The staff was so friendly; can I do a shout out to Monty? Thanks, sir, for your always superb dinner recommendations. The room was clean and neat. The location is perfect; I could walk to everything. OMG! They give you free phone calls to the States certain time of the day. For that, I was grateful because after two cities our phone stop working. Thanks to everyone for making this trip outrageously wonderful.

This is my first TripAdvisor review as I felt compelled to thank Andrea and all the staff of this wonderful friendly hotel after a fantastic visit to Florence at Easter.

The hotel is located pretty much in the centre of the city no more than 30 metres from the Ponte Vecchio and pretty much walking distance from all the major tourist sights.
Andrea and his team were extremely friendly and organised tickets for us in advance to the Uffizi Gallery / Vasari corridor and also helped us book restaurants during our stay.

The hotel is mid-range and offers big, clean rooms with free WiFi access. Check out the web site / email Andrea asking for suggestions for tours etc as the queues for tickets to many locations are long!

This was my second visit to Florence and I will certainly be back, and staying at Hotel Alessandra!

Well thank you! We very much look foward to your next visit. 30 m to the Ponte Vecchio concerned us a bit, so we measured on Google Maps - it's 180m , about 200 yards. That is still pretty close!

I loved Hotel Alessandra. The location was perfect for touring Florence. Unfortunately, we only stayed one night. The room was large for a family of two adults and two teenagers. The room is older but very clean and charming. The bathroom was very quirky but we enjoy new experiences on our travels. The hotel held our luggage after check out so we could see more of Florence. We were able to use the restroom and rest in the "tv" room. Thank you !

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Our family run hotel is right in the heart of Florence old town - near to the Uffizi Gallery and Ponte Vecchio. Without doubt, Hotel Alessandra is one of the most centrally located hotels in Florence. In this privileged position, Hotel Alessandra offers a home away from home, with our friendly team and extensive knowledge of the local area. The hotel entrance is situated on the second floor of the building. You can reach the reception floor using the lift, small but working fine (in the 1400s buildings hadn't been designed with this in mind!) But please note that there are around 30 steps from the entrance on the street level to the departure of the lift. We very much look forward to seeing you! Andrea and Anna ... more   less
