Two friends and I stayed at the wonderful Hotel Alessandra from Sept.17-19, 2012. The hotel was perfectly located, rooms were spotless, and the service from Andrea and his staff was the best service we received in any hotel during our trip to Italy - we felt like we were in their home. Breakfast was great, especially the cappuccinos. Would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone visting Florence.

My wife and I stayed here for two nights on the last leg of our honeymoon. The location can't be beat, just as previous reviews have mentioned. It is clean and very quiet. Breakfast was adequate. Price was incredibly low. Yes, it has a few stairs and a small lift, but who cares? Leave your giant suitcases at home people! What do you need all that stuff for anyway? The rooms have AC if you want it. Bathrooms were clean (unusual for Italy). No need to wander far for dinner. The best place we found was right there on the same street just a few doors away....All of the staff (even including the housekeepers!) were very friendly... We loved Monti! He alone was worth the stay at this hotel. Whatever we asked for was made available to us with a genuine smile and kind words. If I owned a hotel I would want him working there! And if we return to Florence we would not hesitate to stay here again.

We spent three nights at the Hotel Alessandra in September, 2012. Excellent location close to the Ponte Viccio and other sights. Our top floor room was ample, quiet, very clean, had a more than adequate bath, good AC and a view of the River Arno and the ancient bell tower. Yes, there is a short flight of stairs and a small lift, but it was a minor inconvenience and staff offered to help. Breakfast was good and varied, served with a smile by the welcoming staff. Particular thanks to desk attendant Monti who was a wealth of information, gave us great restaurant recommendations close by and even found us a doctor in a half-hour on a sunday when we needed one.

This was a lovely hotel in an excellent location. The staff were friendly, the room was big and lovely (although window just looked out to alley), the breakfast was good. The location is the best thing - it's right in the middle of the city within a short walk of all the tourist sites.

No no! It's not an alley, it's "vicolo"! Completely different. Same size, same shape, but a completely different feel about it. Generations ago washing would have been strung across the vicolo from home to home and neighbours would gather in whoever's washing if they happened to be at home when it rained. But the vicolo is effectively sheltered from the rain via overhanging eaves. And at the end of it a view of the Arno!

We are delighted that you enjoyed our breakfast and location. The breakfast is within our power to improve but the location we cannot do much about!

We hope to see you again.

Kind regards - Andrea Gennarini

Stayed 4 nights in this comfortable, clean and friendly hotel. We were in a junior suite, which overlooked the bell tower mentioned in previous reviews - this proved no problem as the bells rang from 9am to 9pm only and the sound proofing on windows was good if you happened to be in and didn't choose to listen! We found it added to the ambience! Good basic continental breakfast (including a cuppa for the Brits!) included in the price! Reception helpful and pleasant even supplying umberellas (at their suggestion) when we had one afternoon of rain. Location very central for all attractions. We travelled from Pisa airport by train and walked to hotel from Firenze SMN station - although plenty of taxis around outside station if we had chosen to take one. You need to be aware that there are some steps to negotiate to get to the lift and this might be an issue if someone has mobility problems. However it was no difficulty for us. Plenty of places to eat nearby and we in fact ate at Totos restaurant which is in the same road as the hotel.
