“Location, location, location!”

On our recent trip to Italy we stayed at Hotel La Residenza for 8 days. It was a very nice place to use as our "home base" to sightsee, take day trips and enjoy all that Italy has to offer. The room was very spacious, comfortable, clean and we felt very secure. The location was amazing because we were so close to the train station and only a block away from the river and Ponte Vecchio! Can't beat this location for sightseeing all of Florence! The rooftop patio was very enjoyable in the evenings and provided a chance to share a bottle of wine and meet other fellow travelers to share stories.

The only downsides to our stay were the breakfast -we only ate at the hotel once during our long stay - and the location of our room down the hall from the front desk and right across the hall from the storage closet! WAY too noisy early in the morning with housekeeping beginning their rounds. If we had it to do over again we would've asked to switch rooms.

I would recommend this hotel for location, helpful staff and cleanliness.

Room Tip: Make sure you are on the upper floors and not on the same floor as the front desk. Also away from th...

What an elegant place, for a reasonable rate and an immaculate room. Florence takes planning to secure tickets to major attractions, such as the Uffizi and Academia, and energy to climb the Campanile and Duomo, but it is worth the effort! The views, history, art, architecture and people are beyond compare. This hotel was walking distance to everything, but still in a quiet location.

The hotel is at an excellent location, 6-7 minutes from train station and within 10 minutes from most of the major sites. We didn't have a car and had been walking to all sites from hotel and it's manageable. The hotel is situated on one of the most beautiful (posh) streets in Florence but as soon as you took the lift up, the whole scenary changed. The reception was simple and very basic. The guy was helpful. He took both of our luggages all the way up to the top floor. The room was the most basic one we had during our entire Italy trip. The weather was cold back then so the heater was welcomed. The dim light and old furniture makes everything looks a bit dusty and unclean but to be honest, we didn't really spot any dirt in the room (but we hadn't try hard to look at details of course as we didn't want to). Overall, it's just not some place where you feel that you can spread and relax... However, since our Florence stay was short and hectic, the stay was fine by us. The breakfast was up to standard. Clean and sufficient. Overall, we think it's value for money but would probably spend more if we have more time in Florence / want to relax in room after a long day's walk.

Room Tip: Room at top floor is OK. We feel that at least it's more exclusive and we had the terrace right...

As I sit in this room on my vacation I am disgusted by the fact that this room is hot smelly And worst of all so noisy that you can't get sleep Or hear yourself think if you tried. Ear plugs music TV nothing works To drown out the incredibly loud street noise People partying in the street traffic going by absolutely obnoxious The guy at the desk does nothing doesn't speak very good English and can't make a decision I was supposed to have a single room and when I checked in the back I just do me a favor give me a double room I can't help wonder if my single room was on the other side we from the street So now jet lag and two nights without sleep. It is so hot in here because the heat doesn't turn off and it's sweltering. It's a good location, but so are a lot of places. DO NOT STAY HERE. I am contacting my cc company and will protest charges. If they paid me I would not come back

Room Tip: Worse than terrible.

Quick one nighter in Firenze cheap and somewhat dated however some people like that sort of thing. Reception was helpful including a reservation at a fantastic restaurant for a fiorentina t bone.
Room and bathroom tiny and only one pillow, shower is not built for the larger chap and point to note charging plug sockets are hard to find and my European adapter was too big for the socket? ??? However reception helped out.
As a crash point for someone who doesn't mind stairs it was ok and a good location. I found breakfast ok for a start but don't expect much lard.
So its up to you dear readers but it was cheap in comparison to the surrounding hotels.

Very nice hotel close to the sights of Florence (actually wedged between various designer stores). The hotel has a working elevator (so you don't have to carry your heavy bags up and down stairs after you have been shopping :-) ), and breakfast is included. The breakfast includes croissants, yogurt, cereal, pastry, cheese, meat, coffee, etc., and was all very good. The internet was free and worked well. The room I stayed in was very nice spread across two levels (bedroom upstairs; sitting room/desk and bathroom downstairs). Overall, I was very happy I stayed here and would stay there again. You are so centrally located...many restaurants are close by, there is an ATM across the street, and all the sites and shopping are all around you. Also, you can walk to the train station in about 10 minutes.
