This family owned hotel is in an excellent location, close to all the sights and the train station. The family are all extremely friendly and helpful and were able to suggest restaurants and things to do. The woman who I believe is the daughter speaks good English. It was all very clean. The rooms are of a good size and have heat (not common all over Italy), and comfortable beds. The bathroom was super cute and though the shower was small (very common in Italy), it had lots of hot water and water pressure. We had a very comfortable stay and the included breakfast was very good (great coffee). We would have stayed longer except it was all booked up for the Florence marathon! For the price we were paying (in the low season), it was great value and I highly recommend it.

The hotel has good atmosphere, friendly employees, reasonable prices and comfortable rooms. The best part is the location. You can walk everywhere you want in 5-10 minutes. It is 5 minutes from the trains tation and 5 minutes to the center square. It's also close to the Academia Gallery. I would totally recommend.

Room Tip: There is no lift, it's better if you choose a room in the 1st or 2nd floor.

Hotel is small in size, but big on effort. 24 hour reception, rooms quite spacious, with good size bathroom. Shower was fab. Hotel room equipped wit lcd tv wit a good choice of channels. Free Wifi throughout hotel, which is fast and reliable. Beds are very comfortable, with nice pillows. rooms cleaned every day. Breakfast in mornings was nice n staff are very friendly. Checked out early, but there is a bathroom available to have a shower or go to the tiolet if one wishes before catching train, bus or flight.

Train station is very close. Best way to describe getting there is to leave train station by entrance where McDonalds is. When outside, look across street and you will see another large mcdonalds. Walk across road and down past mcdonalds. Turn left at corner, immediately cross road and walk down to 1st righthand turn and hotel is just on left hand side. Its opposite Lobs restaurant (didnt eat there) and beside a small cafe that is an excellent place to have a snack. Food is homemade n of high quality.

Hotel is beside markets n this can b a problem if you are a light sleeper, as from very early, stalls will be passing for a considerable period of time. No cars are allowed over the cobblestone streets, so you could get unlucky !

All sights and shopping are within 10 mins from hotel once you get your bearings. Come out of hotel and turn left and off you go !

Restaurant in laneway directly beside hotel is probably the best we had over our stay. The fillet steak was cooked to perfection n so tender. My friend had the duck dish another had the stew. All were fab. Mixed meats for starters were nice, but a little salty. House wine (white) was good.

Flew from Pisa, which is only 1 hour train journey and train goes direct to airport. Cost for 2 adults return was €31.20, which is more expensive than ryanair bus, but quicker.

If doing Leaning tower, get bus to lam rossa bus station (get map of pisa at tourist info desk at airport) and see the tower (impressive landmark), but get bus back to train station at airport or pisa centrale and get direct train to florence. We did Pisa after Florence and it was a big letdown. I hour looking at leaning tower is more than enough and there is not much else happening in the city!

Flew at 645am with Ryanair to Dublin and allow approx 1 hour to go through security n passport control. Get coffee etc after security, but before passport control, as the small cafe was not open and only had vending machines for coffee/water etc.

In short, go to Florence. Id put it ahead of Venice for relaxing, sightfilled city.

Hotel was very clean, fantastic location and excellent breakfast. The only fault I would have with this hotel was that if you get one of the rooms at the front of hotel you will be woken very early by all of the street traders and their trollies going to the market, this usually is about 5.50am and carries on until about 8am. I would stay here again but would definitely request a room away from front of hotel.

Room Tip: request a room away from front of hotel.

Dear Guest,
May we thank you very much for your review on Tripadvisor and for your nice words of appreciation for what the hotel offers to its guests.
We also thank you for your pointing out at one of our faults. We did have "airport windows" (that's to say noise proof) successfully installed but they seem to have lost their efficiency after a few years. We are in the process of changing all the sealing washers around them (thanks to your review). We are looking forward to your next visit - possibly in the near future - and until then we remain,
Sincerely yours,

Having been a long-time purveyor of TA but never one who has gotten round to contributing any reviews, I am casting my mind back to remedy the imbalance and make recommendations for hotels and accommodations that I would like to reward for excellent service. Hotel Nuova Italia is such a place.

Handily located within 5 mins walking distance of the train station, this charming family-run establishment was perfect for those visitors to Florence not wishing to blow the holiday budget on lodgings alone, but still looking for a few luxuries at the sort of prices charged by the true ‘bargain basement’ establishments. In short, we left feeling that we should have paid a lot more than what they were asking.

To start with, it was walking distance from most places that you would expect the average tourist to Florence to wish to visit. Breakfast was basic but more than enough to ready you for a day’s sightseeing. Our room was large, the beds were comfortable and the ubiquitous WIFI was always accessible. There was always someone at reception, more than happy to provide you with a map and an answer to any queries about tourist trips, attractions, bars or restaurants. (Incidentally, we did the day trip to Siena, San Gimignano and Pisa which was a fantastic way of exploring the historic towns and rolling country landscape of the region). I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a quality 3+ star accommodation, in a 4+ star location… at 2 star prices.

My husband and I visited this hotel with a Gadventure tour this past September. It was very clean, charming, and centrally located. Daniella (not sure of spelling) gave very much appreciated dining and shopping advice. One of the places she recommended was Toscana Trippa in the marketplace. Tripe? Are you kidding me? We have never eaten tripe in our lives. Daniella assured us we would love it and told us how to order it. Sure enough, the locals were lined up at this restaurant. We cautiously ordered our tripe sandwiches, along with a glass of wine and a beer (a bargain a 10 euros!). Absolutely delicious! We were still full from the complimentary breakfast served at Nuova Italia, but we ate every delicious bite! Oh, the breakfast is also great! And they have an espresso machine! I would highly recommend this hotel!

Booked a single room online for two nights for a great price. The room was small, but I was only sleeping there and did not care. The room was located in the front of the buidling with a window that looked out onto the street - big mistake! The noise from the street during the entire night was unbearable! I think I got about 3 hours sleep! Between the street traffic, the garbage trucks, and I believe every other huge truck that exists in Florence (and drove by my window) it was non-stop noise! I asked the next morning if I could be switched to a room in the back of hotel, and at first they said that "we are located in the city and there will be noise and when the windows are closed it will block out any noise." I said the window was closed and that it did not work and I needed to get another room. Which they did manage to switch me for a huge price adjustment. The knob on the door to the new room did not work properly and in order to close the door when leaving the room you had to slam it shut. I hated doing this as it must have annoyed any fellow customers - but I had no choice!

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are quieter. No elevators and you must carry your luggage up the stairs.
