We had to stay for one night in Florence.
So, we’d chosen this hotel, firstly, by the reasons of it perfect location - couple steps from Ponte Vecchio and very reasonable prices for our period.
We weren’t disappointed! Location is really convenient for walks to all parts of Florence.
The building, there hotel is located, is very respectable, historical and also very clean.
Hotel is pleasant.
Our rooms were nice - large, comfortable, with balconys. There is wonderful terrace on the roof, with tables and awesome view. Personal was extremely friendly.
Also there is a car's garage near.

The location of this hotel couldn't be better. It is on the far side of the Ponte Veccio but it takes one minute to walk to it and cross to the center. I really enjoyed being on that side of the river, as it was far less touristy and very, very beautiful. Just behind the hotel by a few blocks is the Pitti Palace which you have a lovely view of from the roof top terrace. In fact you have a lovely view of pretty much everything from the roof of this hotel, the red tile roofs and historic landmarks of the center and the beautiful green rolling hills that surround it. We were there in dreary, rainy March- I can only imagine how wonderful this rooftop would be in summertime! As for the inside of the hotel, it is functional and clean and the hotel staff is friendly. We stayed in what is called the "green suite" (the rooms have colors instead of numbers) it was very spacious and tidy, nothing to complain about for the price. The only truly luxurious thing about the room was the shower, which was huge with jets and a rain shower and all kinds of bells and whistles. I don't think I've ever showered so much on vacation!

Room Tip: The suites are affordable and seem much more spacious than the regular rooms

Dear Sirs,
Thanks for the review and the nice words that you used.
We hope to improve our rooms, that now have shower with vertical column hydro massage, color therapy and tropical rain, docking station and a superior size, with more luxury comforts.
We hope to welcome you again in the future, maybe with the sun, to enjoy the view from the terrace.
All the best!

We knew Hotel Scaletta was centrally located but had no idea how ideally located it is, one block one way is Ponte Vecchia and one block the other the Medici Summer Palace or Petit Palace. Great restaurants, museums, and the market all no more than a 10-15 minute walk. The hotel is nice, not fancy. Feels very authentic. The rooms are spacious and comfortable as are the bathrooms. And the staff at the front desk is very helpful, Sara and Monica in particular. They are always cheery and took care of reservations at various museums. All you need to do is plan and they are happy to do the rest. Fnally the terrace area on top provides a great view of Florence and I can imagine it must be spectacular when the weather gets a little warmer. Really recommend this gem highly.

Hotel la Scaletta is located near the Ponte Vechio, so in the middle of the centre. It has a very authentic atmosphere. Staff was very friendly and helped us with good restaurants and trips outside Florence. Bathroom was a bit small.

Room Tip: We had a room at the street side, this was good, not noisy.

We had a great experience in Hotel Scaletta. Sara at the front desk was especially helpful - but everyone was cheerful and accommodating. The breakfast is tasty and reasonable and the view from the terrace is fantastic.

This hotel has plenty of character and is well situated. It is just over the Ponte Vecchio on the road to the Pitti Palace. Yes, it is up 70 or so stairs however there is a small efficient lift that takes 2 people max. Once up stairs it was like an oasis of calm, with corridors heading up and down and round corners. We had 2 rooms at the back overlooking the Boboli Gardens, and it was very peaceful. Staying in January we didn’t use the upstairs terrace other than for a quick look – and can understand why it’s a highlight for so many. The views are breathtaking. The front desk staff were the most responsive and helpful of any we have come across (thanks Sara and the rest). The breakfast was average, however it cost more to have only a coffee and pastry in the local cafe. All in all we would love to come again. We were also very fortunate to be In Florence in early January when there weren't many "tourists" (for example we walked straight into the Uffizi and the following day into the Accademia without any queues whatsoever). There was a major fashion show on at the same time so hotels may have been busy but not with tourists.

We were in february 2013 in the lovely hotel La Scaletta, service and room were immaculate and
well heated because unfortunately is was very cold in Florence during our stay.
So when your visiting Florence book La Scaletta because it s really worth it !!!
The view from the top terrace is fantastic and we saw that there is a little cocktailbar as well
which of course is only opened in summer.
