Outdated rooms, except for updated bathrooms. Very limited internet. Complain and they will make you feeli like you are the problem. If you would like to get up at four AM, pick the from we had because the noise in the alley will wake you up. We asked to have our room changed and they could not help us out and then later complained that we did not raise our concerns to them. We checked out early. Thankfully, we had another place to stay. This place soured our entire Florence experience.

Room Tip: Good luck....ours was not the one you want unless you want to be up at four AM for a flight.

We stayed in the terrace of the Torre Guelfa Hotel in October. We were so happy with our choice. The location was perfect; just a couple of blocks from the Ponte Vechio and a short walk from the Uffizi and Accademia. The staff were very friendly and helpful and recommended great local restaurants. Chris, the hotel bartender was a delight as were the women who served breakfast. The common sitting area was just beautiful and comfortable. We especially enjoyed our stay in the terrace. The view from our terrace room was beautiful, and the view from the tower even better. We hope to stay again when we return to Florence. Toward the end of our stay, we lost our new iphone and the staff went to great lengths to help us locate it. As it turns out, the phone had slid out of our backpack and into the trunk of the rental car we had rented from Avis in town. Two months after we arrived back in the states, an Avis representative contacted us to let us know that our phone had been found! What refreshingly unexpected honesty!

Room Tip: Choose the terrace if it is available, especially in the sprintime and summer.

I've stayed at the Torre Guelfa Hotel 3 times now. First alone, then with a friend, and the third time with my adult son. It is perfectly located down a tiny quiet street, but yet just off the Ponte Vecchio. it was convenient to the major museums, Duomo, and the southern side of the river for the Palazzo Piti and my favorite Piazza - San Spirito for lunch. We loved the tower bar with it's incredible views of the Palazzo Vecchio and Duomo. It opens at 18:00 when all the church bells in Florence start to ring. The other guests are so friendly, and the bar is a great spot to meet people from all over the world. There is also a lovely breakfast served in a solarium on the top floor which is included in the price of the room. I did not always find this at other hotels. The staff was friendly and helpful, and even made reservations at the Uffizi for me. There was free wireless and a computer available in the top floor parlor.

Room Tip: I stayed in 3 different rooms, and they were all fine. The bathrooms are beautiful!

We stayed at the atmospheric and historic Torre Guelfa Hotel in October and can highly recommend it to travellers looking for comfort and style combined with friendly, helpful staff and a perfect position within the old city. It is mere minutes from the Uffizi Gallery and Ponte Vecchio. Its ancient tower features a bar from which you can enjoy a glass of wine overlooking the stunning Duomo. Our first room was a little noisy as it was on the street and the windows were yet to be double-glazed so the staff kindly moved us to a bigger, quieter room with frescoes on the ceiling at no extra cost. Across the road is a enoteca with live jazz most nights and just up the street we discovered Ristorante Toto which we kept returning to because the food was divine and very reasonably priced.

A very good three-star. Toons are a bit dark but with a fun castle feel our family liked. Staff was extremely nice and helpful, breakfast good. Best is the tower. We put the kids to bed and enjoyed the view of Florence with some limoncello. No Internet in rooms but cozy lounge upstairs did have free wireless. Location was walking distance to key sites.

We spent two nights at this hotel on our Rick Steves Heart of Italy tour in September 2012. Great location in the heart of Florence, very close to all the tourist sites. Rooms are perfect for the traveler (all the basic comforts), friendly and helpful staff, super breakfast, free WiFi and a spectacular view of the city from the tower. Be sure to climb the tower and enjoy a glass of wine at 5 pm. No need to spend big bucks on a five star hotel in Florence unless you got euros to burn. I would rather save a little euro on the hotel and spend the extra euros on great dinners. Perfect hotel for the tourist who wants to stay in the heart of the city.

Room Tip: Library and Breakfast areas are on the third floor. Our room on the first floor was dark with less...

We recently stayed at the Torre Guelfa for four nights while vacationing in Florence and really enjoyed the hotel. The best [art about it is definitely the price for the location. The hotel was walking distance from everywhere we wanted to go in the city and the price was very reasonable. It's not an extremely fancy place but has everything you need. The front desk staff was helpful. They have free wireless in the public areas on the top floor, although not in the room.

The included continental breakfast was OK but pretty basic. It had cold cuts, cereal, yogurt, and different types of juices, tea, and coffee. They did not serve a hot breakfast or have a restaurant in the hotel if that is something you're looking for. But there are some many places to eat within walking distance, it is not really necessary.

The hotel also has a nice rooftop tower deck, hence the hotel name, with a very nice view of the city. When we were there, it was too cold to do anything but take a quick look, but during nicer weather, it would be a good spot for a drink or to eat breakfast.

The rooms and hotel are made out like a vintage building with exposed bricks, a canopy bed, etc. Ours had an enormous bathroom. It also had a safe, hair dryer, and mini bar, but not a lot of other features you might find in a bigger hotel.

The hotel staff was very nice. They helped us with taxis, with arranging a bus trip to our next city, storing our luggage, and with any other questions we had.

It's also on a smaller side street but still one with other bars and restaurants, so our room was a bit noisy in the early evening. If you're a light sleeper, ask for a room away from the street side of the building. There's a lot of tourists around and you can definitely hear the street noise.

If I ever go back to Florence as a tourist, I'd definitely stay in Torre Guelfa again.

Room Tip: Ask for one away from the street if you want a quieter room.
